QuoteComing to North America and Europe – play@PAX Prime!

August 23, 2012 – Nicalis, in collaboration with Circle Edge, proudly announces fighter "Yatagarasu" (final name and release date TBD) bound for the West! Created by a three-man team (past credits include King of Fighters), Yatagarasu rocks hard with classic 2D fighting action and tournament-level depth.

Developed over four years, Yatagarasu was originally released in 2011 as a Japan-only title. Art direction and character design by fan-favorite artist Styleos, game design and balance by ex-SNK designer Umezono and game engine by Shiza–the three-man team makes up Circle Edge. Yatagarasu also features a unique optional commentator system that mimics the tournament trash talk experience.

Attendees of PAX Prime 2012 can preview this fighting masterpiece next week (8.31, 9.1, 9.2) by visiting booth 883 (within the Indie Megabooth) and experience the action. Watch the Yatagarasu Trailer on YouTube at: Yatagarasu Nintendo 3DS Trailer

Yatagarasu Features:
- Eight playable characters
- Single and 2P Vs. modes
- Training and Replay modes
- Four-button attack system with Parry System
- Character design by Styleos
- Classic 2D hand drawn sprites
- Original soundtrack

Yatagarasu continues Nicalis' collaborative domination with some of the best developers in the world. Previously Nicalis has teamed up with Studio Pixel (Cave Story), Nicklas Nygren (NightSky), Terry Cavanagh (VVVVVV) and Sophie Houlden (Swift Stitch).

No mention of Online play will probably  be a deal breaker for some.

I seriously doubt that. If they can afford giving english dub to all characters, why stick to the 3Ds? Why not go for XBox360, for example?

Moon Girard

Because 3DS is the best selling system right now and Japan hates Xbox.

If there was a way for me to actually buy the PC version I would.

Hopefully this 3ds deal will allow the creators to do something bigger with this game.

Basara Bogard

I played the game and it's awesomely beautiful, the bad thing is the few roster and moves for each character. I think there should be more characters but I think it's a great news to read :)

How did Nintendo get permission from the creator of this to port this over to their 3DS.

Rolento

I think you need to reread the press release in the first post, as it is actually mentioned there.

I tought this was just a dōjin  PC game. what is it doing on 3DS ?

it has very few characters, oh well, atleast its a 2D fighter, so who am I to complain ?

Mgbenz

What's stopping doujin games from getting released on handhelds?

Nanashi_1337

Street Fighter IV for 3Ds was bad, IMO. So I don't know if 3Ds is the best console for fighting games. So far, the PSVita has shown me it works well with them.

Shocksconstant

DOA Dimensions and Tekken 3d prime are pretty damn good fighters on 3ds. I'd say BBCS II aswell if it weren't a piss poor port of the psp version.

MAO11

interesting atleast the narrator isn't blabbing random crap like the other jp fighting games.
