What are the alternatives to photoshop? My cs6 trial just ran out and I don't wanna pay for it.

I'll list these down:

-GIMP (bet you already knew that)
-Paint.NET
-ASESPRITE If you are willing to spend $10 USD for the full version, it might be worth it. I recall this was recommended by sprite artist extraordinaire Kiwi-RGB, so it should be of some use.

Good luck!

Photoshop CS2 (along with the rest of the CS2 suite) is free.
It's old, but still usable.

The motion itself looks alright, although I'm trying to understand what's going on with his right (our left) arm, because it seems like it just wobbles back while dislocating from his shoulder.

That's what I thought too, but that's the way the arm was in the lost episode. Should I take some creative liberties and change it?

Personally I think it'll be less noticeable once shaded but maybe adjust it slightly.

P.s. what did you do the anim in?

Before when I was still working on the Apex (lol) I used Fighter Factory to line up all the sprites and then animate it. But I had to make a whole palette for each anim if I wanted to do that.

What anims are walrus working on right now?

To comment on the animation itself, it looks more last like a heavy swing than a straight up punch. That's how I see it anyway.

Good, that's what I was going for haha.

I've been playing necalli in the sfv brta and some of his moves could be used as inspiration for asuras imo

Lets see how this goes. I haven't sprited in a while but I've been playing F/GO a lot so I thought I'd try my hand at Shielder in Melty Blood style. Are the proportions right and does the head look fine?

It looks great. Maybe make the arms and thighs a pixel wide .

I really love how you capture the Melty Blood style in the character's face, it's looking great.

Nice stuff!
The proportions are good. i think the left foot needs more edit on how the two pre made sprites had, the right arm needs more fixing too i guess...
Keep going! I like what you did there :)

Alright, I took what you guys said into account and made the legs and right arm a pixel wider. Also fleshed out the limbs. I'm thinking I'll have to change the position of the right foot and thus change the rest of that leg as well.
