The Lord of the Flies

Ok, after a period of dullness I now got inspiration to make another character. The character I'm gonna do is a semi-original one. That is, it will (hopefully) have a never-before-seen roster of moves, specials, etc. But, it will use some open-source sprites which will be minimally edited (crappy btw) by myself. I'll use Tam Tam's sprites as base. He's a character from Samurai Shodown series, if someone doesn't know.

Ok, let me develop on this character, which will be, for now, called "The Shaman". I aim to make this a combo-flexible character. Not an omfg-MvC-style combo character, but you get the idea. If you've played SamSho, you know that all characters (Tam Tam) start with their weapon. Well, the Shaman won't. He will fight with his bare hands, until you do something (more on that later). I'd lile to also incorporate into it some specials/hypers that involve "mastery and use of time".

Here are some specials/hypers I've come up with:
- Since he will have the ability to manipulate time, he'll have a "freeze beam". That beam, upon impact, will freeze the foe, allowing for a free hit or whatever.
- Also with the "time mastery", I want to add this heal hyper. I visualized this as The Shaman getting on some mystic stance, and a clock would appear in the background tickink backwards. Meaning that The Shaman is retroceding in time, thus "healing" his wounds.
- Another hyper. The Shaman does a mystic dance/stance of tribalish/shamanish doom. Then a ray of lightning (something like that) strikes him. So if the opponent is near, he takes damage. In other words, think of an Orochi Pillar exploding where The Shaman is.
- A special that I want to burrow from Mudman (World Warrios series).
- A hyper that allows it to use his sword (he takes it out and you can now slash stuff with it). More less thing of an Ex combo from CvS'  A-groove. He would do more damage, have more range, etc.

This is just rough planning. So yeah, I'm open to any suggestions, ideas, comments, critics, etc. About this character. This is certainly not WIP material (lack of screenies) yet. So I posted it in this section.

( ゚ o゚) It's Urza!

Incorporating a variation on the Heavens Cross attack?

Heavens Cross effect.

Might want to change the color to something that fits your character.

Ecchi, it calls to me...

Kensuke

You should make set requirements about how the healing move can be used. That way it won't turn out  cheesy.

ie. Once per round, or full bar of hyper required and the amount healt is not a lot.

Heavens Cross effect.
That could very well fit in. Just add something tribalish in its center for more eye-candy. Or a skull (ala Orochi Skull). Btw, which game source is it from? You know, for credit stuff and that crap.

Yes. I was thinking of it being a hyper with diminishing returnds. That is, the more you use it, the less it will heal.

If you rly do create him w/ those specials, make sure it's a bit limited and to also make sure it's not too broken lolz because those specials sound rly rly cheap-ish and uber lolz. Kinda reminds me of a char from DotA.

It's true that if you own a PS3 then all arguments made by those who don't have one are invalid.

D.Gray-Man desu.
Her power can suck the time out of people, temporarily "reversing" wounds.
Of course, when she stops using it, all the time flows back in, but, eh, details.

If 6 Was 9

Lol I'd like to see Jack Skellington (I'm the alternative MUGEN character kind of person) :-X

Oh, you wanna make original attacks? Cool. I attempted to make a character like that, I made original movements with photoshop ^^ but my computer crashed, so I lost all of his data D: I'll be looking at this character though, sounds interesting.

Story of my life... (poor Super Goku and Wind Waker)

But yeah, the more original the better. Haha, I like the hyper that allows him to bring out his sword. I'm working on K'oss' Sword equip mode as I type this.

Props to you for the idea, lets hope it goes well.

Movements as in effects and such? If it is, I'd like to see some of your works. I could even end up using them?

Btw, I just remembered another voodoo/shaman character. Houngan from Clayfighter 63/3. Another source of inspiration :).

Maybe a move such as Shadow Dio's one (from Jojo's B. Adv.) where he puts a lot of knives in his opponent's body, but rather using needles. In fact, the opponent would be a voodoo doll.

A time slowing move, but that may be overused ?

I guess you'll manage the sword as a helper, and not actually put them in the sprites, to avoid problems in case he gets thrown.

The Maverick of Death

I see alot of varient shotos how about an evil terry or something like that :sugoi:
I'm just too damn busy with college for RIOT Control.

Yeah. Like, if there is a sprite of a character punching, i can edit that to make a totally original attack. I can make cool looking blasts and stuff like that from scratch too and apply that the sprites for an attack too. I can show you some of my works in a minute :]

Did you even read the subject of the topic ? I bet not. --;

The Maverick of Death

Sorry, long day yesterday  --;.  You could make your character an elementalist or maybe really take the shaman character to new heights by having him call spirits or raise zombies..some shit like that.

evil terry  :laugh4: why does everything has to be evil? I'd like to see, for a change, something like "good bison" or "benevolent rugal"  :sugoi:.

Anyways, on topic, I thing I've got a solid idea of what I'll want on this character. However, if you want, keep making suggestions.

Mind you, I'd REALLY start this character around november, when I get vacations. Law school is to blame :P.

how bout this for an idea. a move where you Sacrifice your hitpoints for damage results. I'm sure this has been done before.

It's kinda like streetfighter alpha's custom combo super.

Yep, Wan-Fu in Samurai Shodown II had a move where he'd hit his head againt his stone pillar, which would damage him but fill his rage bar... or Heat Mode in KoF Neowave... ot TESTP's Yuri C-Type.
Keeping the damage/benefit ratio would be a wise thing to do though...

A way to avoid unbalancing the use of time manipulation would be for the character to have an action that would basically "save" the data relating to a given moment, so you'd only be able to heal up to the life values you had in the moment when the action was performed for example - basically you could have variable assigned to keep track of the data you wanted, like life, and that action would be the moment when they'd be assigned a value.
