Any guilty gear chat goes here.

what is the biography of some people?
it seems that ky and sol are enemies(pretty obvious)
but what is the story between them?

previous topic:
why are there so many verions of ggxx(x2)?

Seriously, there are like 3 or 4 now?
wtf?
and from what i've heard, the 1st ggxx was brilliant (and i agree cuz i rented it), b
but then the next ggxx's  that came out, got worse and worse and some features were left out? :behead:
why would they even do that? I bet they're doing it.... maybe so they can get more $ to make a better game. or a number 3.
What do u guys think?
:innocent:
I need a revolution.

I think they just trying ti put new ideas, and see if the fans like them, so they can put the good stuff into ggxxx

On one side, you have a cow to milk from, so profit is #1 driver for so many iterations.
And no, IMHO GGX2/XX isn't the best one. For me, Slash is the best. Matter of tastes, I think.

Petit is an SD Guilty Gear, it was for a handheld console "Wonder-Swan".

Overture is an 3D Guilty Gear for Xbox360.
It isn't a fighting game its a beat-em-up.

The different versions all fix some bugs some way or another and adds a few new things to each of the games. Also it is used in competitive play a lot and I can only guess the developers want to make it as perfect/balanced as possible to promote more play.

The games did not get worst and worst (in a way), but only to make it more fair and balanced. It was annoying to see 20 people using Sol in the first GGXX all because of the Dust Loop "bug". Now the current game plenty of people participate with different characters, giving it a variety. The menus/interface all looks a bit better per game too.

Or the developers are lazy and can't think of a story to add on to it ... ::)

At least they do more changes in the subsequent revisions, unlike these "Roster Updates" of EA Sports games.

mugenxero

Heh, they don't always get more balanced, it goes innovation, balance, innovation, balance, as saying that XX#R Eddie is balanced is a little odd, while going forwards to accent core where again he got buffed like anonymous into his triple unblockable setups etc.

Why are there so many versions of guilty gear XX(x2)?
I'll answer with my own question:

Why were there so many versions of Street Fighter 2?

SF2 and GGXX comparisons:
-Guilty Gear Timeline-
GG:Begining of the series with about 10 or 12 characters
X:Add a few more characters and hi-res graphics.
XPLUS(Japan only):Adds Kliff and Justice from GG
XX: added five characters and story mode(and missions I believe) But removes Kilff and Justice
XX# Reload: Reload adds only Kliff and justice, character from the original Guilty Gear
ISUKA: Adds A.B.A. and, that one boss I forogt his name. Adds 4 player gameplay, and line switching(As from Fatal Fury), Also adds side scrolling mode.
XX SLASH(JAPAN): Adds order Sol and A.B.A.
JUDGMENT:Psp conversion adds a side scrolling mode(as seen in ISUKA but more expanded), also has GGXX#RELOAD but with without missions and story mode.
XX ACCENT CORE:Hm.............appears to add nothing but a few nicer looking backgrounds and other re-arranged stuff, but america does get this one for both PS2 and Wii( that's the first time we got a guilty gear for two systems)
That's 6 versions of XX/X2.
-SF2 Timeline-
SF2: Begining of the avarage 2-d fighters, with 8 playable characters and 4 unplayable bosses.
SF2 CE:New colors plus bosses selectable.
SF2 TURBO:More speed but that's it.
SF2 TE: Arcade only, tournament style(later to also be a mode in SSF2 and SSF2 TURBO)
SSF2:Adds four characters(to ,me, the first REAL sequel to SF2)
SSF2 TURBO:New secret boss and the inclusion of the super specials bar.
And 6 versions of SF2.

So I think their tied, but Guilty gear is better at least in my oppinion.
But as to the actual question WHY there are so many versions. Simple, money. They continue to market a successful game, they make more money.

"Be it not so! Thou shall see me not in agony , Failure was and is no option , 'Tis my undying self, The ever wandering son ov the morn, Abandoned, yet never to be conquered , The opponent!, My life's work is complete..." - from Inner Sanctum by Behemoth.

IMHO XXSlash is the best one, but I also really like #Reload. I have XX and Accent Core as well, as for XX, well I don't really like it much compared to the better ones, and AC is only good for a few stages. I stick with XXS when I play with my friend's etc.

Seriously though on SF2, I think the updates were needed because there was considerable improvement every time. Concerning GG, they only seem to balance things out here and there and make characters better/worse as they see fit and adding characters to the lineup, until AC when they finally added something else (Force Breaks). Except I don't even like that game for some reason.

And for SF2 updates;
CE: You can play as the bosses, big glitches were fixed, balanced out characters, palette swapping, reversals, etc.
HF: Apparently CE got bootlegged like mad so they went and made another SF2. HF pretty much had faster gameplay/you can choose the speed as well (to an insane level IIRC), as for attacks, all I remember is Ken/Ryu getting mid-air Tatsumaki (but I think there's more), and everyone got their default palette changed. Eg. Ken and his purple (blue?) gi, Ryu and his very-light blue gi and white headband. Also by now the power of character's attacks have been lowered like hell compared to the original SF2 where shit did 50% damage out of nowhere. Which is good news.
SSF2: I dunno, I guess Capcom got some new software under their asses so they went and made ANOTHER SF2. I can't really say if this was for the better or for the worse, but all I can say is this led on ST which is IMO one of the best most awesome fighters in history of gaming. So let me finish; 4 new characters, balance, 8 palettes for each character and music/audio/portraits etc update. Sort of like a generic XX update but with a bit more.
ST: This game wins.

SF2 VS. GGXX? I don't have an input here. I enjoy both. At the moment I like ST more, but you know that always changes.

XX had justice and kliff, #R added 50 more missions and extreme changes to game balance, Slash had more rebalancing along with O-sol, and /-\Core had Force breaks, slashback, throw breaks etc along with bigtime rebalancing or in test and Eddie's cases breaking.

SFIICE was both bosses and the fact that thanks to palettes 2 people could play as the same character which was revolutionary back then. Theres also new challengers paired up with your SSF2, and hyperfighting is somewhere in that list as well, anniversary edition has a combo of the different versions in there.

Bastard Mami

that is a law in programming, if you fix any bug, you have to add at least another two, is like cutting trees in a forest.
