Capcom vs. SNK 3 Is Very Not Impossible?

If you will, take a trip back with me to 2001 and, would you kindly, try to remember all the gaming related rumors that were revealed in that year. I know that it's hard to recollect, but there was one very interesting rumor that I will never forget, and that was the Capcom vs. SNK 3 rumor.

In an interview with Jeux-Actu, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono commented on the possibility of Capcom reconsidering the development of Capcom vs. SNK 3. In the interview Yoshinori Ono recalls Capcoms firm focus of unwavering fans of fighting games.

He even goes back far enough recalling being asked about Capcom considering the development of Street Fight IV. With that, he goes into there being a demand for Street Fight IV saying, "because fans demanded it they got it," or something along that road. And he says that the same may go for Capcom vs. SNK 3, that if fans demand it.

From the companies' stand point I'd think it's a bit too early for them to consider making something like that. Capcom and SNK have just revamped their respective franchises and likely planning the next step on how to move forward with them.

That said, there is no reason we can't start begging for it early.

All I know is that if the game gets made the first CVS3 character for Mugen will come from Japan.

if this game is made i predict almost nothing new or original coming from the snk side. and if they do bring in characters there's a 90% chance that/those characters will be from king of fighters/fatal fury/samuria showdown. i guess they could use a couple characters from waku waku or galaxy fighters but these games are old and not exactly popular.

capcom on the other hand doesn't really have many(or any) 2d offerings that are new. they'd have to go to there 3d games and transform them into 2d. they could get devil may cry/okami/viewtiful joe/killer 7/resident evil 4/godhand + all sorts of games. but capcom does have a new fighting game on the horizon thats original (i think, i heard this awhile ago)

if capcom vs snk 3 was really made they could just call it "street fighter vs popular snk characters"

yeah now that i'm thinking about it if sf4 is well received (which is likely) i think they'd just use 3d graphics for cvs3. don't forget tatsucap either, which was a crossover fighting game by capcom that used 3d graphics and looked really really good

Yeah, I don't see capcom going back to sprites for that game. Bashing the snk side because "it's all kof" it's pretty stupid, considering that kof is already a snk dreammatch with all their games, hence why nbc was a pretty pointless exercise.

I'd rather see an SVC2 w/ the KOFXII look, but the Street Fighter 4 style is cheaper to produce and easier to work with.

Not really, KOF has characters from Fatal Fury, Art Of Fighting, Ikari Warriors and Psycho Soldier, but it doesn't have anyone from Samurai Showdown, Last Blade, Metal Slug, etc or any other SNK titles unlike NGBC which is more of a Dream Match than your usual KOF installment is.
