The rules said:- Be creative... I question this seeing last years winning entry and one other entry were conversions from a source game. I would assume that line of the rule means to for entries to be original or am I missing something.

I am not trying to throw a monkey wrench or anything into this event. I am in it for the fun plus to see how much everyone, old school to new school has grown.

Great to see a new stage contest here this time I won't participate, I need a lot of skills for stages and I've to improve the ones I already made (like TMNT3 from past contest). So good luck to all challengers this year, I hope to see some 8-bit/old-school stages in this version

Graphics were not but w/e.... besides coding alone shouldn't be the only deciding factor.Everyone either did something original or heavily edited but a source conversion with no originality won the contest....Or is there an unwritten rule somewhere....
I'm not creating drama, I'm merely questioning the contest rules. Look I have nothing against you or your works. We go way back since mugendev days and you teaching me how to use variables, but I just wanna be clear on something and to me I don't think its really fair or in the same field as the rest of the past entries. So yes I am questioning this.
Creativity wasn't part of the scoring last time. It was a suggestion. Here:http://network.mugenguild.com/cybaster/random/MFG_Competition_2012.pdfScoring was how the stage looked visually, how it was coding, and an overall. My stage scored the worst graphically, and would have done better I'm sure it was an original stage. However, the stage had a TON of animations. Besides the two cats which are a highlight of the stage, there's the billboard that has the blinking cat, the cat paw, and the lighted sign that has a long animation to it. The far most background has several animations to it, the mid background has two separate layers with animations. The strobe lights too...I programmed them all accurately to the source.Creativity is a guideline that is suggested in order for the entries to be different, and to inspire uniqueness, I assume. Last year wielded a ton of unique, awesome new stages that I loved playing and this year I'm sure it's going to be the same. I don't speak for the judges but this is my interpretation. I was legit surprised I got 1st place last time, I thought I was going to embarrass myself compared to the high quality other entrants.
I see. Like I said caddie, I wasn't trying to promote problems, just wanted a proper understanding and you took the time to go in-depth with the explination and your stage. If I created any ill feelings, that wasn't my intention, hell, you just inspired me and gave me an idea of the stage I want to create and enter into this contest. So thanks! Also just asking is interactivity allowed or not. something very small, nothing major or heavy.
I look forward to it, Syn. And everyone of you entering, I'm going to play every single one of your entries!Tomorrow I'm going to decide if I want to enter, too.
