^^^I'd suggest adding a frame before the actual punch where he draws back the punching arm and the foremost arm comes a little forward. The jab kinda reminds me of Sol's air dust animation, but on the ground. Maybe a quicker version of this?Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
Looking good Goodjob Ice, Barker, I like the I guess what you can call the "melting" animations of Buu! They look really good!
I know this horse has had the shit kicked out of it... but I just wanted to see what he'd look like without such heavy shading on his pectorals. I just took a few frames and quickly lightened the chest a bit. (added Gohan just to compare the shading of the pecs)Whether you guys think it looks better or whether or not you're open to even going back and changing the old sprites is your call. Just wanted to throw it out there since it's been a recurring criticism with Buu.
I didn't say anything before because Barker was nailing the rest of the character so damn great, I didn't think a little bit of KOF styled gradient shading was too important. I think it does look more consistent to the style's shading and it's good.
Since AugustAPC's last post on the previous page I've been implementing the new shading. I can't ignore it when a bunch of people have noticed it.Edit: Any feedback on Balth's fx?
I feel like the Ill Ball is a little to bright, but Buu's always about the bright colours, so maybe that's fine. It might also look better when we see it moving across the screen. The candy beam looks fine to me. But for some reason, I can't help but interpret it as Buu having projectile dysfunction. He just can't keep his beam up.
Balthazar said, February 18, 2016, 03:43:50 pm I guess it looks fine in-game, but I don't see the appeal with the dithering, since all Z2 characters usually have "solid" effects for their attacks. Something like SSJ Goku's aura effect when he does his super rush would work in my opinion.
I personally never really envisioned much of an aura around him on his cannonball move. I'd have to see it in game to really form an opinion. His candy beam looks great.I'm glad to hear you're touching up the shading on his pecs. You've done such an excellent job with Buu and the rest of his anatomy.
Yeab I'm not a huge fan of the dithering either. I think a better effect (and more in-line with what an old-school Capcom Arcade game would do) would just be to make the spark completely invisible every other tick. It tricks the brain into thinking it's transparent, and it's Arcade-accurate!
BTW that looks more like a Medium Punch than a Light Punch. There's even shift in balance, and recoil physics on the clothes
