With the ground kick, will different kick buttons change the direction the opponent is going?
Or is it always towards your character?

different kicks are for different positions where the leg sprouts.

I like the melting Buu.
It is a good tip of the hat to the defeated Apocalypse in XVS.

The sprite just looks too stiff for such a flexible, and expressive character.
The pose reminds me of how characters die in MK3. Arms to side, stiff as a board.

I would like that sprite more if Buu was posed like this .
With his tongue hanging out of his mouth.

That's his combo breaker, not puddle mode.

And Alpha, the knockout animation is crazy old. I based it on the sprites from Super Butouden, and you're right that it's a bit rough. To me it's not worth going back and redoing it from scratch, as we're moving on to another character. Not all the frames will be amazing looking, but it's pretty decent for my first creation.

The sprite quality for my next character is a big step-up, so far. I'm excited to show everyone! :)

Can you at least change the face on that one sprite?
It would make a big difference in how satisfying it is to defeat Buu.

Just a random thought, wouldn't it have been a better idea to make Kid Buu Z2 first? I mean he was announced way earlier even though he was a joke character. Still, he would have been cool.
