It's back, the somewhat annual mugen AI tournament, with a bit of a change from past tournament. Felt like bringing this back into action since it has been more than a year since last tournament. I will be making a video about this later to get people from YT interested in this.

What is this?
This is a mugen AI tournament involving teams of four characters similar to King of fighters in turns fashion.

What's up with the "Revival" in the title instead of just Togmat 5
I've changed up the name a bit according to a post I made three months ago meaning there are going to be some rule changes from previous tournaments.

Why haven't you posted your combo comp yet
I've been a bit busy with college as of late and also interest upon finishing it has waned on me. I Still do have said files for it, I just haven't edited them into a video yet and AI tournaments are more of an interest to me know. I'll probably do so when I'm motivated.

Rules:
These rules will be very similar to previous tournaments, albeit with some changes as stated to accommodate for the new engine setup.

  • Small/Chibi characters are going to be upscaled via localcord or blue CLSNS arbitrarily raised to be hittable by standing punches. However if said characters was like that in a source fighting game it's allowed (E.G choi, iggy, etc.)
  • No characters with insta-kills/OHKO's this time
  • No characters that perform infinities
  • No characters that start before the round starts (I'll be checking for this)
  • No characters with resurrections this time
  • No bonus game/Onslaught type characters
  • No characters with constant super amour
  • Provide links to said characters
  • Characters will be set up to load up immediately so their is no AI load up advantage (AKA the impossible commands AI activation method being shit)
  • Make sure you characters have a visible form of AI
  • If you want your character in a specific mode (AKA selecting specific groove for a CvS2 character, etc.) do let me know
  • Do note despite the rules on this list I can ban a character for any reason I see fit

Engine/Tournament Setup
  • 99 time a 60 ticks
  • %120 life
  • Losers Bracket
  • No champion team this time

EDIT: For now on future tournaments I'll keep this ban list of characters/authors that do happen to fall under the rule set but I've decided are absolutely not fun to watch with them plowing the competition with little effort, being in line with the last rule. Exceptions may occur if proven otherwise.
Spoiler: Ban List (click to see content)

whats a champion team

It was a thing that I did where the person who one said tournament had to defend their title, which in turn meant they couldn't participate in the tournament until their champion team lost and replaced with said winning team.

Is there a limitation of what gameplay mechanics are permitted so that we don't have obviously lopsided scenarios such as MvC vs SF or GG vs KoF?

mugen 1.1

3 or 4 characters?

4 Characters in turns

Only what's noted in the rules, but I do make certain cases if said character is really cheap even if they do fit within the rules. The variety of characters tends to outweigh a character having better mechanics than others usually

wondering if i can just re-enter my fangore wooden doll footee 0D_wong fei hung team or if they break any of the rules

Your team should be fine from last time

Thanks for the teams so far, I've put a poll on the top whether people would want a losers round or have it be bast two out of three (losers round the majority picked in my idea engineering thread)

Can't wait to see all the characters people pull out!
Team: Red Hot Chili Spices

Human Saiki by or2=3 (AI by Duagi)
Ono Kohaku by Mariru
Yuri SV by Sui
Archetype:Earth by 41 (AI by M-ism)
Please use palette 5 for all.
I've already created a zip for them all with the proper configuration the link is here.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/jluchu6z7i347yf/Red_Hot_Chili_Spices.zip/file

The only character on that Team I'm probably going to say no to is Yuri SV (and not because it has ohgaki sprites lol)

4 Characters in turns

Ah okay then.

Team "Boundless Life"

Kamen Rider Ryuki by Nanabe
Ryuko by Kamekaze
Ryu by GM
Date Masamune by Neat Unsou

I can't really remember if date does his basara ko or not (I don't think so) but I'm not sure.

Prepare to witness characters that have never been witnessed by the naked eye in the history of the MUGEN tournament scene before. - Graves has entered the chat. Get ready boys.

Its just that the tournament came at the opportune time so I thought i'd pick up a win before I leave on my journey so I can get a rough idea of where my deck stands compared to others and how much I need to refine it.  Sincerely - GravesDisease
