Good tools for ripping NES sprites?

The FCEUltra is the best emulator out their to play the roms, but not sprite ripping. It doesn't have a sprite disabler, but does have one for the backgrounds (I think).

Anyway, anyone know of any other resources other than the oldschool TileLayerPro-type programs (which do me no good at all?)

WELL according to what I saw back in the SF2NES beta-testing days, you would likely get the best results using VirtuaNES and using Artmoney+Animget. However, in my case, I usually just take screencaptures and manually clean them in MS Paint.

No, because, at least in all the NES emulators I tried out (including JNes, RockNES, FCEUltra, and VirtuaNES), there are no BG-disablers.

Yeah ZSNES gets the job done, although you have to keep an eye out for frameskip and stuff (In my tests, it seems to skip two frames instead of one when you use ZSNES' advance frame during a pause). The easiest way to remedy this without resorting to Artmoney is to keep trying (savestates help here, unless it's a game like Ganbare Goemon 4 which screws up your save).

I use VirtuaNes because it has frame advance.
In order to make my life easier, I use artmoney and a tile editor to turn the background into solid colors.

Then I take screenshots using the hacked rom.
Princess Adora: "My friend saw She-Ra take her dress off in the shower. She said she has an 8 pack. She said She-Ra is shredded."

SF2NES is dead. Long live SF2NES.

Hmmm...well I already have artmoney and animget. I guess I have no choice to give VirtuaNES a chance. Thanks for the feedback yall.

You'd think that if FCEUltra could handle Castlevania 3's mappers perfectly the coders would add a simple BGDisabler feature...

what about taking an opensource emu and disabling layers via coding yourself ?
