Wow, those are really impressive, smooth animations. What program do you use to get such fluid quality?

I'm very impressed at what I've seen so far. It's great to see very ambitious original mugen projects coming to fruition. Keep up the good work, this looks like it will be really good.

Shorashah!

Who is Shorashah, you ask? Well, she dances in my profile.

I'm glad. I never had a PS2 (probably the ONLY person) so I never owned GoW 1 or 2. I enjoyed playing them at a friend's house, and planned on getting my own copy to play on the PS3.... but I ended up with the non-backwards compatible one. Now that they are releasing them in HD (and visually they are way more impressive than the PS2 versions) I am overjoyed.

I agree with Ryne on this. An original character is one that the design of the character is previously non-existing. It can borrow ideas and concepts from other sources, but it's theme, design, programming, etc. are not cloned from any single source.

Now in relation to MUGEN, I do accept characters such as Pikachus and ShinRyoga's Super Mario to be grouped under the "Original Characters" category because it is difficult to categorize these characters. I think it is the general acceptance that "original" characters have sprites that had to be created by the MUGEN contributor (and not the video game company) and the implementation of the moves were the thoughts and ideas of them as well. I would prefer to call these "Fanfic characters" or something like that to distinguish them between characters that are truly original, but I doubt that would ever catch on.

Edit: To clarify something: I did say the "implementation" of moves because depending on the character, their moves may have already been created. For example, Link is not in a 2d fighting game, but he does have a set of signature moves, attacks, and weapons. So when he was mugenized, his moves were already planned, and the mugen contributor merely needed to creatively implement these moves into Mugen.

Now that I have officially spent a good amount of time with this game, I just gotta say.....  This is EPIC!

You have gone well beyond mere characters and stages grouped together. Everything blends together so wonderfully, from the music to the special fx. I am also impressed that you made these characters truly unique, and there's a LOT of advanced programming in there. The way you tell the stories, as well as the credits and intro animations, are quite cinematic. I don't think I can actually express how impressive this whole package is.

Yeah, all the praise you have been getting for this game, you deserve every bit of it.

Reuban Kee created the best Evil Ryu and Evil Ken, often referred to as the Evil Duo. He also created DragonClaw, the first character to be rendered in 3D and turned into 2D sprites. Sadly, Reuban Kee is dead.

Um... not quite. DragonClaw was NOT the first character 3D rendered 2D sprited character. There have been many before him. Biped was one of the early ones back in 2000 or 1999, and I doubt that even Biped was the first.

I have also made several characters like this long before DragonClaw. To make such a claim is a mild insult to myself as well as many other mugen creators.

As for Reuban Kee, I have had contact with him only a few times, and he was a very helpful and encouraging individual. He is indeed missed among the mugen community. I wish I had a more active working relationship with him.

As for the topic at hand, my stuff can be accessed at http://www.addham2it.com. Just click on the mugen button. Most of the stuff there is old as dirt unfortunately, but Blockhead is recent. As for the WIPS, I'm working on it (very very slowly).

I gotta say..... just reading about this inspires me. I can't wait to try this game out, and I have pretty much given up on MUGEN mostly. It's great to see an original MUGEN game like this one. It inspires me to finish the original game I am working on. Since it took you 7 years, I don't feel bad about mine. I've only worked on mine for three years, and after that first year I had to start from scratch due to my comp being destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. I need to get off my ass and work!

Edit: Oh, and yeah, that was an awesome trailer!

This is impressive. Heck, I wish I could import these models into my Poser (I don't have anything required to do so). I hope all this leads to a full FF MUGEN game made using FF 3D models.

Ya know.... I am so glad that I got REALLY lazy and have not really worked on my full game since last year. Maybe this might get be back into a productive mode.....

sigh, I just gotta get through the tedius "get-hit" animations and coding for all the characters.

Thankfully I won't be losing any important coding (since I have yet to code any moves beyong basic movements into any of the characters yet).

I can't believe I actually bothered to watch the WHOLE trailer. They all got JELLO implants! Also, they need a new engine for handing hair. The hair modeling and movements/clipping were distracting from the goodness of everything else (including the jello-boobs).

My Blockhead character has a Midnight Bliss animation as well; however, it does not have a shock animation/sprites.

Mine is a complete WIP with all original content.

My other one is only stuff that I downloaded and deemed worthy of being kept. Anything with stupidly aggressive (cheap) AI, missing animations, cruddy looking sprites, horrible sound, etc I get rid of. Basically, if the character/stage is not well-made and worthy of being in a legit game that people would pay money for, it's not worth keeping (unless I can use it as an education tool).

I'm annoyed by all these people who create these "Let's make a full game" posts. I want to see more "I'm making a full game all by myself" post. Don't just have the ideas, execute them too!

And yes, I feel I have the right to say that.
