Sorry for the lack of updates folks, been going through some stuff and also been setting up a new computer and it takes a bit to get used to. Moses' sprites are almost done, just have to finish two animations for his super moves, his run, and his intros/win poses.

Kamekaze has finished coding the AI for Ruckus and Elle, and both will be part of the next update, which will also see the addition of Chad In Black, Bloodtide and Afterimage. Once Moses' sprites are done, I will focus on things like intros and endings for the characters while Kamekaze finishes the AI code for the remainder of the returning cast, which is what we need for a full release.

After that, any additional characters will be considered "DLC," and the game should receive regular patches for bug fixes thanks to Kamekaze. I will update this post later today with more screenshots of Moses.

Take your time man, keep up the great work. You're a veteran, we know you'll deliver.

Honestly at this point I'm surprised you haven't tried to release something on steam or something because you're crazy consistent.

IIRC FF7 is the game that made jrpgs mainstream in the west anyway.
That would be FF4 (FF2 here) on SNES. Then Chrono Trigger and FF6 (FF3 here) put an exclamation point on the genre.
It was Super Mario RPG.

No, really. Square deliberately made the game to appeal to the western market because FF and CT only saw modest success.

Actually yeah, I actually forgot how popular that game was. It played like a traditional JRPG too, except for the weird team MP system.

FF7 capitalized on the momentum JRPGs had going on from the SNES era. Shortly after Pokemon came out and the rest is history.

I expect and hope that Microsoft seize this opportunity to steal the show and begin turning around their fortunes in Sony's absence. If they don't do it this year I don't think they will ever again.

Here's hoping next year they pull Melee from Evo Sunday. No reason for SF5 to end at 3AM EST IMO.

They should just have Melee end on Saturday somehow, the game's had it's run over 15+ years, time to put it out to pasture, although I know a lot of people would disagree with me.

tbh it applies to both

Budokai's battle system would probably be adaptable to competitive esports if it came out today, it had the breakthroughs which basically standardized the characters and didn't lock moves behind the capsule system. That game is meant to be played offline and that's why it has so much single player content, but if it came out in the current fighting game climate I'd have no doubt that dimps would make it more of a competitive fighter instead.

Tenkaichi and Xenoverse I don't think lend themselves very well to competitive fighting because of the nature of the games themselves, they are essentially arena fighters and arena fighters don't typically do well as true competitive games. Xenoverse found a lane by going the semi-MMO route instead and I think that's fine for what it is.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Perfectly scratched my Phoenix Wright itch. Brilliant music and voice acting. I loved everything about this game and will be diving into the sequels shortly.

(Also I got the Uncharted 4 platinum)

Loved the series until the end of 3. Good luck.

thats only for the fortune teller stuff though (most of which are cosmetic btw)? the mostly needed stuff like all the important changes are all fine. dont be turned off by the prospect of lootboxes alone and actually look through the meat of the changes :/

The sentiment remains. They found another way for you spend FM without finding an alternate method of replenishing it. It shouldn't be praised from a consumer standpoint.

It actually reduces the replayability of the game rathwr than the other way around. Extra Battle is a mode that made sense because if you check in from time to time you have a chance to regain FM. Survival Mode serves as a way to spend FM without gaining it back after the one time bonus. If there was a way to atleast reliably grind for FM, even if it wasnt a significant amount, it would keep more people outside of the FGC to keep playing the game.

Been a long time coming. Feels like it's truly been an eternity.

Sadly they already said on twitter that they don't finish the project and just released it to show what they can do, because they now want to use there skills to get some real work. so it's kind of a promo demo or something like that.

From what I'm to understand they found real work and had some real life responsibilities to handle so that's why they stopped to begin with.

the other features actually improve survival mode  by a ton

But the catch obviously is that for you use the new features you have to spend FM. They essentially made the mode a FM sink so they can increase season pass sales. Makes sense from a business standpoint but I really don't like it, there can and should be more ways of making FM.

Snake's never coming back.  Konami still owns the rights to Metal Gear and they only make pachinko machines and bad decisions now.

Konami fired 1 very expensive dude to save the company, which includes reviving Bomberman with 2 new games, making Yugioh playable again, doing shit with Castlevania and Zone of the Enders. These are actually good decisions viewed from a business standpoint.
But unpopular opinion, I guess.

It's not farfetched to see Snake in Smash again, although Simon Belmont would have been the better choice.

Kojima's known as the lifeblood of the company, with the cancelled/rushed games and the release of games like Metal Gear Survive along with the fact that the future of the company being flat out uncertain I don't know if I can agree with all of this being good decisions. Now if it needed to be done in order to save the company then I can see what you mean but I haven't read anywhere that that's indeed the case.

Pretty sure we won't see Snake again, and I'm pretty much okay with not having guest characters at this point because I didn't particularly enjoy them last time around. Except for Sonic he's a natural fit into the game IMO

Everyone was well aware that MvCI was likely going to miss the opportunity of being showcased at Evo. DBFZ completely stole the show and offers everything it brought to the table and more. Many players who were primarily Marvel players are focusing on that game.

Quite frankly given the lack of respect Capcom/Marvel had for the longtime players of Marvel games that game shouldn't be supported anyway, it'll just enable Capcom to continue that practice in the future, rather than listen to the feedback that their dedicated fans have been giving them all this time.

I've been playing it since it came out.  Been stuck to Lightning because alongside just liking the character she's also really fun to play, so I kinda skipped out on actually trying Cloud and Squall who I wanted to test before they went.  Whoops.  Tried Firion a bit as well but I just didn't understand him before he was swapped.  Trying out Sephiroth now, and it goes without saying but god damn, that sword literally stretches from one end of the screen to the other.  He's a bit slower than I like but he's still fun as well.

I also did not play the previous ones, on account of not dealing with PlayStation's handheld system(s), so I'm both lost story-wise and new to the gameplay, but it's not terribly hard to pick up and it's a whole lot of fun.  I sincerely wish there are 2v2 and 1v1 options as well, though, because getting tagged to some terrible A.I. that can cost you the match even when you are playing perfectly just sucks the fun right out of any game.

Also

Holy hell is this game pretty to look at.

It's good that your starting here because most people who played the original games and myself included are struggling to accept this game because the introduction of team gameplay and lack of RPG-like features that the originals had is really hard to adjust to. The game feels a bit dumbed down, which can be good and bad. I won't be buying it full price but I'm sure I'll grab this later down the line.

Re: Returning Characters - Movesets, Gameplay and Story

January 23, 2018, 08:15:11 pm View in topic context

I may eventually do EX versions again but I want to make sure the core cast is as solid and balanced as possible first. This was the feedback you gave me about Snow when I first started talking about SHADEs 3:

Snow

- Not many changes need to be made here, obviously. I will say Senton Splash and Psy-Kick basically have the same function. Psy-Kick should probably have an EX version but I don't know what it would do.
- I like the fact that basic Snow is more of a defensive Guile type and EX Snow is an offensive version. If you have to sacrifice one in the re-design though, try to resist the urge to incorporate some of EX Snow's moves into regular Snow.

I'm actually using your feedback for all the characters as a guide for what should be changed and streamlined.

Wow talk about a blast from the past. I agree with myself on that point   :P

You're doing the right thing though worrying more about the normal cast. You probably don't even need to make EX characters anymore at this point since you're focusing more on quality rather than quantity. I was just trying see if they were going to exist is all.

edit: Re-reading that thread 4 years later I was a really talkative mf wasn't I?  :laugh3:

Hindsight really is something else. I should've been focusing more on creating my own designs than keeping my nose in everyone elses haha

I see the original version Snow will remain a Guile clone pretty much to the T (nothing wrong with that since he has been for years).  Will we be seeing different versions of the characters? I vaguely remember there being a more offensive oriented version of Snow being available in the previous game.

@Cazaki

Thanks man, hope you can beta test stuff when it's ready, your feedback has been super valuable to me

@Kirishima

That is super in-depth and I'll definitely be keeping all of it in mind as he's developed. I'll get into the specifics of this once I'm done with his standard action and required sprites.

This still needs some edits but I've been working on it for a couple of hours and just want to post something, lol

The yellow trim on his shoulders, coat and wrists will be done with color separation. Both anims are the same, the first is the default palette, the second is what I'm considering for his new default palette. Green definitely looks more military, but the blue and yellow is a little more unique. Thoughts?

Maybe for old time's sake, but I'm pretty much retired at this point haha
