Re: Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Pretty sure MK sells because of the gore, with newer entries ramping up the gore and deliberately putting an emphasis on it as part of the gameplay loop, to the detriment of the dev team. Lord knows it's not because it's a competent fighting game :}

If there's one thing that's iconic to the MK series past the gore itself, it's the finishers, specifically Fatalities. It's what turned a fighting game with blood sparks into a controversial behemoth that played a pivotal role in the creation of the rating system, and the backlash was mocked by devs with the inclusion of Babalities and Friendships. To not have Fatalities is to not represent what made Mortal Kombat popular.

Oh, my mistake. I made a typo in the thread name.

Sorry for any confusion that caused. The point of interest is the Pikaman on the right, which is using the new default palette I made.

Now now, I know what you're thinking.

"Oh, that fucknugget Plasmoid is releasing a joke character on April Fools again."

But no, I'm not releasing a joke character today. I've decided to subvert that just this once.

Anyone who knows me knows Pikaman is one of my all-time favourite MUGEN characters, so I couldn't joke around with this one. I really hope you enjoy this!

Weird. Could've sworn when I worked with FntV2 before I was able to give each glyph its own palette. If I'm mistaken, then that does suck and you might as well use FntV1.

No, bank refers to a set of glyphs that are referenced at once. When you define text in screenpacks and lifebars, you can specify the bank a font uses, which is typically a different palette; for FntV2, that means the entire set of glyphs filed under that group.

Only FntV1 (.fnt) needs to share one palette; if you're making a FntV2 (.def/.sff), each glyph can have its own palette, as what dictates the font's bank is the sprite group.

I think I prefer the old gauges as they took up less room and it's less distance for your eyes to dart between. Possibly the old flag(?) borders too, but then I suppose it depends on how visible the flags were inside it.

Dr. Robonik's Mean Bean Machine is now available to play in M.U.G.E.N itself!

Kirby's Avalanche is best played against a human player, as the A.I. won't know what to do. Bit tricky in these current times, but hey.
Playing Dr. Mario in simul mode has Puyo Puyo's teammate show up on the opponent's side.

You could allow the Helper to enter the regular states, but it'd need a lot of IsHelper triggers.

It's such a shame MUGEN doesn't display it properly in conjunction with additive transparency, generating dark outlines, so you have to use an extra layer of white to try and mitigate it.

Those lifebars look really nice. Simple without being too simple, but distinct enough to stand out.

You know how to extract content from a .zip file, right? Both Touhou_IZ-Common_Files.zip and the individual character .zip files contain a folder named Touhou_IZ, which in turn houses additional folders and files. The characters require what's in Touhou_IZ-Common_Files.zip to work properly, so you'd want to extract the Touhou_IZ folder from both the common .zip and the individual character .zip files to the chars folder (it'll ask to merge them, which you want to do). What you should end up with inside the chars folder is the Touhou_IZ folder, and then inside that will be the character .def files, the character folders, and the common folder.
