Does this mean we can go straight to the voting part without waiting for march 18th? Having more time to vote with this amount of nominees probably wouldn't hurt.

Also, I have to question the validity of adding Maxine, I'm pretty sure she was not updated like the other characters, she was just hosted in P.o.t.S.' site after people asked Borghi to do it to her as well, so she is not really "of the month", right?

The next MK game will be a Trilogy/Armageddon game whose roster will include all characters from the last three games, plus some others from the PS2 era, and their allegiances will be unusual because of a weird thing that joined everyone together in the same timeline... basically, the plot would be a mess again, but hey, many fan favourites would come back.
