It was a really good movie. Like, not modern MCU level of bombastic, but good enough for a solid Pixar.
There were like 5 people in my Saturday night week 2 showing, because the marketing fucking murdered it. Recently I realized I hadn't heard a single word about it for like a year so I looked it up and realized it was coming out in a week, I can't understand how Disney / Pixar's marketing just dropped it so bad. And the trailers until then didn't show anything of what the movie was actually going to be about beside fighting the robots of the big bad that was mentioned in Toy Story, all it said was "there's going to be a lightspeed travel involved, and also time" and that's it, we were left to piece out everything else from scraps. I went in with no idea if it was even supposed to be a kids movie only or if it was going to be a bit enjoyable. It was the latter, but I was annoyed to be going in blind that much. I'm assuming adults and old Toy Story fans thought it was going to be a kids movie only, and parents didn't see anything interesting in the shitty trailers, which were not saying anything and just showing a lot of stuff and cartoon science talk.

The first ~20 minutes were super weird and a bit off putting, making you fear the hate was justified, but then it get really well done. It's another "character arc" movie where the story creates its own problem to resolve through the movie and the emphasize is on the character growth, so it's maybe not super interesting for a modern sci-fi story, but it's good spectacle. All the hate really is just about the minute of lesbian representation.

Sonic 2
Much better than the first film. Carrey's Robotnik got a big upgrade, and we finally have a movie studio that decided to actually take the game's content and just put it on a movie and not fuck it up with a dumb story. It's pretty much exactly the games, which is super refreshing for a video game movie.

He gets a Concentrate core that lets him spam his super. Eh, supers are barely as strong as good specials (especially the kind with DOT explosion), the only point of them is to stop the timer and get free cooldown on your skills, they still cost PG, so it doesn't look as strong as it pretends to be.

I was gonna say there's no way they'd make units exclusive to the Dream Match and skip on getting more money, but I realized it would be a way for them to slap together the datamined characters that maybe they don't know what to do with because they're obviously not EX material and they don't want to release them as lousy gold units, at least until they decide to make a pack of them. I want Gang-Il already.
Kusanagi should get a chance to be more different from Kyo, at least with the punch super inspired by Syo, but we already saw Kusanagi use the exact same moves as Kyo, so who cares.
And I'm sick of collabs, what could possibly top Street Fighter beside maybe Marvel (please no DC no MK no sword RPG), it's gonna be shitty mobile games all the way down. Tekken return would be nice (I want Lydia) but I don't see them making a third Jin (getting two the first time was a mistake). If only they used it to enable a system to upgrade gold units to at least FES / FES+ level.
At this point I'll take the Lady units, and I want a Lady Geese EX upgrade with a 3PG.

I'm not surprised, it was originally "supers hit dead enemies and the new ones don't come in" at the beginning for a long time, and they changed that because people complained, I totally believe that they fucked up when reintroducing it by mistake and they fixed it when people complained again.

FF7 25th anniversary
- Intergrade on Steam
- new First Soldier stuff
- Ever Crisis with FF7 and CC footage with the new style, with a bunch of alternate costumes for everyone (and short hair Sephiroth or is that a twist ? Shouldn't be a twist, this is the faithful remake), closed beta test in 2022 on smartphones
- Crisis Core FF7 Reunion on all current platforms this winter (thank you baby Jesus) (and yes it still has Genesis with the face of that singer dude)
- FF7 Rebirth this winter on PS5, apparently focusing on the mystery of Zack, Cloud, and Nibelheim, and what's fiction and reality (Tifa getting upset at the suggestion that SHE is the impostor while she knows that Cloud is lying LMAO the nerves)
- confirmation of a third title in the FF7 remake series after Rebirth, so it's a trilogy
So it's gonna be the winter of Zack.

... With Ever Crisis being the faithful remake and CC remake being titled Reunion, I'm suspecting that CCReunion will not be a straight remake but a part of the Remake / Rebirth storyline, it will have its own version of the shadow thingies from Remake and then keep going with Zack making it to Midgar alive and then other stuff happening. They showed multiple parts of that final battle of the original CC but I think that'll be a fake-out.

I actually thought that the second part of FF7R was going to be titled Reunion for the whole "Cloud is manipulated into rejoining with Sephiroth" section, but they're giving that title to CC Remake instead, and using Rebirth to really say that it's a new story...

edit - oh fuck I just realized CCR is also coming on Switch.

It's weird because time attack has been more lenient in the time required for SS rank, more of them have a 1m20 time limit instead of just 40s, I think, right ?

Really ? When it's the up close view it's okay, but I keep thinking the regular side view he looks very unfinished, like his cheeks are flat and sharp like some random Souls-like western RPG. Basically like it's the first time they're using realistic setting on an advanced Unreal Engine and there's no volume inside the models. I'm hoping we see progress just like when we had a first draft for MvCI and SF5 that were visibly improved soon enough.
It seems also very clear that they've put a lot more work into Luke and Jamie than they did Ryu and Chun-Li, because the new guys don't have that at all.

The "look of a proper SF" is obviously the look that it has used in all previous games, like 2, Alpha, 3, 4, and 5. It has always had a cartoonish / anime look, whether it uses drawn sprites or 3D models. Bamco is the one using Unreal Engine for hyper realistic models, even SF4/5 that use a previous Unreal Engine still made the faces very cartoonishly deformable, with definitely cartoonish proportion and hands / feet upscale on attacks for dramatic effect (think Pocket Fighters, SF4 and 5 still do it). It's a Street Fighter staple.
The outfits also have a lot more "loose hanging cloth / straps" that is very Soul Calibur-ish in design, compared to the stereotypical uniform that everyone has in previous titles - gym uniforms, school uniforms, martial arts uniforms or whatever, it's always clean and stereotypical straight-off-the-shelf without much tear and loose hanging threads. Beside alt / special outfits anyway, for most of the characters.

The entire art style is going that way, so the "modernized" designs make sense, it steps away from the stereotypical/simple designs. And for instance, Ryu gets both the beard and Sagat's cloak which were both well received as an evolution in their respective design.
