Been meaning to give Ivy a bit of a sprite and gameplay upgrade at some point so this gives me a few pointers (along with Mr. Giangs edit)

I like the fact her QCF PP hyper doesn't stop on getting hit, makes it way more useful now.

She's not meant to be a combo fiend, so improving her current tools and making her faster definitely makes her feel better. Although when designing her specials I did throw everything at her including the kitchen sink so I think some of them are redundant and her gameplay needs some adjustments. Particularly her QCF K special, this needs some changes to make it more useful.

fixed-- the hyper move on state 3200 simple add  triggerall = StateType != A to the command call on the cmd
fixed-- Her pain animations. Looking at her files, I realized that the problem is not exactly the images but the animation code. Instead of being in the frame that shows the strongest damage, it goes back to the starting frame, which gives a weird impression - it seems to receive no damage at all.
fixed-- Can't perform crouching attacks during forward dash.
fixed-- She has absolutely no cancels from what I can tell. So no normals >specials or supers.
fixed-- Why does crouch MK knock p2 into the air? There's no reason I can see, why this is a thing. TBH, it makes any combo involving cr.MK feel janky. It also makes cr.MK not good for spacing/pokes. Although cr.LK is a better option in general, even if cr.MK didn't oddly pop p2 up, still doesn't excuse cr.MK's oddness.
fixed-- her Vine Stance really shouldn't last indefinitely. It should just last for a few seconds if you don't do anything and she just goes back to her normal stance. In fact, if you want to add some 'mind game' like maneuvers to it, add the ability to quick cancel it yourself. Like make any punch cancel the move, instead of having the punches do the same thing as the kicks while in Vine Stance.
fixed-- the hitbox for her grab is really crappy. Since it doesn't go all the way down to the ground, it becomes impossible to grab some smaller/crouching characters.
fixed-- Vine stance - way too slow and way too much start up. Most attacks are too slow
fixed-- Needs the ability to switch sides with her current throw.
fixed-- small portrait not linked to palette
fixed to hypers only------- On stages where the ground moves up and down, many of her flowers stay static.
stand attacks cancel to launcher --- Can't chain from crouching to standing attacks and vice versa[/quote author=zvitor]

@DivineWolf - Appreciate the comments on the sprites, have used a lot of bases as didn't want her to be another Psylocke/Rogue/Storm comic character. The costumes are an intro - she has 5 intros, and that one intro has 12 different costumes.

About the stance, I do agree, but it was one of the first things I created for her so every animation has transitions to that stance, get hits, attacks etc. If I was to change the stance I'd have to redo all transition sprites. Bit more work than I'd like.

Feedback wise - thanks for this, I've added them to the list. Splitting feedback into bugs and gameplay. Once you've tried her let me know as getting feedback on her gameplay would be handy (and you may find more bugs!)

A long time coming. I can't even remember when I started Ivy. Originally she was a Poison edit by .Batzarro. I offered my hand and she evolved from there. I lost everything in a PC crash in 2010 so started again. She's come a long way since then and I've learned a lot about sprite editing. Her stance proved a problem but does mean she's very heavily unique in her sprites as everything had to be edited!

Never thought I'd see her released but here we are!

Been almost half a year since I've sprited so dusting off - excuse the many errors in this sprite and lack of contrast! Need to build up practice. Was inspired after seeing Suicide Squad. Tattoos are hard to to at this scale

Thanks. I haven't recevied the files for both, but I really want to code then.
There are more comics chars on the oven too.

Soon I hope Ilu....soon........ I want to get all the sprites done first rather than send them in batches. It allows me to ensure things like the palettes are correct and makes it easier for me to know what's missing sprite wise.

Hmm, I don't really feel like this fits Ivy too well in terms of personality and just as a stance. It works for Midler because she's a belly dancer and is constantly changing animations in her stance, but with Ivy it just feels too weird for me. :-\

Hmm maybe you are right but it's too late to change it without redoing a lot of sprites. Due to her feet and arm positions many sprites including the get hits and basic attacks are heavily edited to transition smoothly from the stance. If I was to change her stance then everything else would need to change or nothing would flow right. I have thought about changing the stance but at the same time I'd rather not redo most things. But hey hoe, it's not aggressive and somewhat flirtatious so it's better than what it could have been :p
The top right image, I'm guessing that's an intro? She goes from her BTAS design to her something close to her TNBA design (becoming all green and planty), right?

Essentially yeah. She'll have various intros based on the costumes she's had over the years.

Thanks for the kind words guys. O Ilu has taken a great interest in coding her. She is part of the Gotham Knights project at Unlimited and therefore will play in a similar fashion to Jason Todd.

Is this the same Poison Ivy that I've been hearing about over at IMT?

What about her kind of dancing stance in the first screenshot. It reminds me of a character, but I can't say who?... :???:


Her stance is based on Midler from Jojo (Still needs a few fixes, namely the head movement)

Do you plan on doing custom states for her at all, like Burn, Midnight Bliss, etc.? I'm rather curious about that bit~
Of course I shall. Midnight Bliss ought to be fun, she'll have to be wearing even less! The original was similar to the one in my avi. I got most of the way through and then lost it all due to computer issues (stupidly didn't back up a lot of it!!) So recently I started again and with much better results I think

Powers: Chlorokinesis, Enhanced Strength, Toxic Immunity, Toxikinesis, Pheromone Control



Originally she was a project started by .Batzarro. that was a spriteswap of Poison. I had always wanted to do an Ivy character and approached .Batzarro. for a team up. He showed me what he had done and I saw potential. I decided to revamp her so that she was no longer a sprite swap, that she uses many bases other than Poison (only the hair is now from her) and that she was made sexier.

.Batzarro. will be helping me with the new sprites to get her done faster. We aim to bring justice to this femme fatale of the Batman series.


(And before you ask, yes the first shot is a fake, my coding skills are still a tad basic but it is a proposed move)



Some of the sprites in these pics are a little old and have been updated somewhat, but at least it gives you a teaser of what is to come

Blair Dame looks much better now. Just curious as to whether these sprites are open source or not? Would I be allowed to use them in my own WIP? Please PM me dampir bout this so I can show you my edit and whether I have permission to use these or not.
