lol, this situation made me chuckle, it was just a misunderstanding. I simply swapped their speeds to cover all angles, not to mock you.

The important one was the the bottom one at walking speed.

Yeah, marching or strolling keywords convey it better. Walking Fast can also be interpreted as Race Walking, where the feet are low to the ground but are not dragged. This one doesn't fit Earthquake though.

If anything, if I could nitpick something is to make Earthquake gasp, opening and closing his mouth for air. Another comedic element.

You were simply stating it doesn't look like a run, but you weren't saying how it could look like a run.

Why are you moving the animations like that? I don't see how that is relevant to my point. Did you think "faster" meant moving animations left and right more quickly?

The simple notion of walking and running. The concept is to move forward and move forward faster.

He will not stay in a simple spot in game, he will move in the stage. Is a mockup.

This one illustrates it better.



The slow version looks like he's doing a lot of effort to move very few inches, looks like he's losing his breath.

The fast version looks proper.



The 3d version is a jumpy jog. Guillotin3 was inspired by it, but as I see it is not a 1:1 base.

Running = jumping forward a bit with each step. (both feet should be in the air for a small period of time before landing)

Yes he does it in his 3d version, but do all heavy people run like that? in real life?

Walking, or in this case marching = there's no period of time when both feet are in the air. One foot moves you forward, one foot leaves the ground, the one moving you forward goes back, the one that left the ground "lands" and it's in front of you, you move forward with it, the one in the back leaves the ground, etc. . There's always one foot on the ground when walking.

People can drag their feet while running. More likely so if they are heavy. Not everyone is an athlete.



I still think the animation is great and it fits Earthquake a heavy guy, he drags his feet in his official walking animation (also used as his backwards walk). Is a hurried up movement, not a marathon run, it even adds a funny element and clumsiness.

That is all. To be honest this looks like arguing for the sake of arguing. I don't want to partake in it.

I thought we were giving proper feedback, is a shame you want out of the conversation, because I have done a lot of running and walking cycles, I like doing them. And was curious why you see it as a walking and how would you easily fix it, but ok.

The frenzy chain is also ok as it is now, I like it. Height is good, he raised it to not trip and fall while running, and the belly as a canvas allows you to see the motion.

The original is very jumpy, even somewhat comical but it still fits Chun-Li




I agree the run animation doesn't fit Dictator. But by all means you can do whatever you want, you don't owe us nothing. So, keep going. The animation itself is very good.

It will be interesting to see you realize the especial intro you have in mind.

Don't sweat about animating the upper body. Oldschool games indeed do that same trick, and isn't that noticeable ingame.



But I must say is kinda trippy seeing his arm behind his back (I believe you were going for that). Not only because one of El Gado's features is that he tends to show off his knife a lot, not conceal it, but my mind keeps trying to correct his arm not behind his back but to his side. I suggest making his hand more noticeable and to his side.

Another pointer for other chars:
-The scale is 71.5% for the blurry stance Destiny sprites. Which is achieved by resizing it first to 143% and then to 50%.

And since I saw somebody wanted a CvS Kensou:



-The scale to CvS is 62.5%. Again 125% first, 50% second. Having Kyo as the reference. Goro uses a bigger scale.

With these kind of projects the worst you can do is wing it and get whatever result.

I will show you some options for both Goro and Krauser.

Let me say it from now that using KoF sprites to convert them to CvS2 is the worst and lamest option, not only because how obvious it is but also how popular KoF sprites are themselves, is best to search for something more "unique".

GORO


KoF Destiny


Pros:
+KoF Destiny spritestyle itself could be considered as "CvS3", is the closest to an official CvS interpretation of several KoF chars.
+Based on the original KoF style with another shading.

Cons:
-Not all frames are converted to KoF Destiny. Lacks several frames and you need to heavily convert them from KoF.
-The rips themselves are dirty and even if I did the best to clean them there are random dots here and there.

KoF XII


Pros:
+It has all the sprites you need and then some, you don't have to convert them all. Doesn't need to be as fluid.
+It has that "unique" look and not a simple conversion from KoF.
+KoF XII and CvS are closer styles in terms of how clean they are, palettes, proportions, etc.
+You only have to add details to the sheets I present below.
+You have already worked with this style, I still think that both Takumas you edited from KoF XII to CvS are the best ones out there.

Cons:
-It could be difficult to see where the lines that need to be defined go, that's why I annex the original size as well.
-CvS doesn't use that "absolute shadow" present in KoF XII
-The muscle definition is different to the real CvS one, Raiden is the best reference.
-I didn't reduce all colors from the palette (the belt and hair.)

KRAUSER


Fatal Fury


Pros:
+The "unique" feel.
+No need to re-scale the sprites.
+For CvS, CAPCOM went with the first version for some chars: Athena's first outfit, Vice's first stance, Ryo's first stance, going with Tuxedo Rugal instead of Omega Rugal, etc. (They are heavily worked of course)

Cons:
-Oldschool style so a lot of cleaning is needed and lacks several frames.
-A heavy shading is needed for it to achieve a truly CvS2 feel, and that means investing time.

*If you wonder Fatal Fury can be indeed used as a base, here's the Axel Hawk version I edited:



Real Bout Fatal Fury


Pros:
+Is a clean style which in fact could be indeed used as is and could make it into a CvS themed mugen char.

Cons:
-This version is known and is not unique.
-The feet position on the horizontal lines is different to CvS (perspective).
-Needs scaling.

Hope this proves to be useful, to anyone, not about the sheets, I don't expect them to be completed. But in having a different perspective when approaching conversions.

I know you want something fast and effective, since this is after all, a hobby.

But aiming for quality should be the main point, even if you take a different perspective and use "shortcuts".

Here's my take, edited manually. Mostly fixing colors, limiting the palette and few details:



My suggestion is to do a gray render first because with a professional software you can limit the color amount to 7 tones, which is how KoF XII shading is.



Then I suggest to do a render with a color separation, like the ones you do but with more saturated colors avoiding white/gray/black tones. If you can get it to be pure colors it would be excellent, if not, something similar so you can saturate the palette with the professional software.



And then what you do is to overlap the gray render with the color separated render.

*The extra renders I suggest are for a more accurate palette. It should ease the issue you have with the renders that have 256 colors. Which is a real issue. My example image should have 42 colors tops (6 separations x 7 tones each).

What is cool about the gray render is that you can manually edit stuff here and there without worrying about the palette. And after that you overlap the color separated render or even better you do a custom CS, with the 3d render as a guide.

Also, the textures would be better if they have more glossiness in the hair, clothes and skin.

The last renders you did have a shading that reminds me more of SF3 style rather than XII, the first versions you did were closer to XII, with a more absolute and simpler shadow. The last version has overlapping shadows, it's more noticeable on her right leg you can see a X shape due the multiple shadows.



This project looks promising.

Ok guys, time to get rid of this project, don’t worry is pretty complete and can work as a decent char.

At least I hope you realize that this wasn’t just a resize work, that some new animations were included.

Since this project’s conception there have been problems.

I see is not worth it, I don’t like playing mugen, I can enjoy watching some mugen videos, new stuff being done, but its clashy nature is borderline garbage.

If it were for me I would add new chars to romhacks, maintaining a defined style. I love good fighting games.
