Re: My Air Projectile move leaves me grounded in midair and my Projectile Immune das

 October 27, 2023, 02:53:43 pm View in topic context

There's this weird bug where mashing the AirDash button makes the sound effect at the start of the Air Dash play twice even though the Air Dash is coded to only happen once per jump max, what's causing it?

Either your character is somehow entering the stateDef twice very quickly, or the sound is playing in a different stateDef. Or maybe the same sound is assigned to another value.

Nothing in the above code would make it play twice.

[State 190,]
type = ChangeState
triggerall = enemy,name = "Orochi Ash_MA" | p4name = "Orochi Ash_MA"
trigger1 = Time = 0
value = 2013

Change | to ||. While it works in this instance, it's not good practice to use bitwise OR where logical OR belongs and vice versa.

Quote
[State 0, VelSet]
type = VelSet
trigger1 = 2
x = 170
y = 0

Quite the typo there, Vel X is always at 170. You'd probably never see the character :P

I'll start by saying that :

To put some things in perspective, quitting because of burnout and/or growing out of (usually free) artistic development is perfectly fine. It doesn't "tarnish" a decade plus of work and agree or not, any work done by creators can be handled any way they wish. It is unfortunate that Incident Zero is being shelved (it looked fun and I was looking forwards to seeing it realized). But it wouldn't be the first incomplete project in our wonderful community, and to say that you shouldn't "delete everything because it's a stain on your legacy" sounds a bit like guilt-tripping to be honest.

But yes, the "sake of your own souls" quip was really unnecessary and more silly than anything else. And allows people to either poke fun at the idea (which I certainly wasn't above), or come to weird conclusions about being controlling and manipulative (that I don't agree with). I'm sure you know that you aren't the first person to make a post about "(re-)finding religion," and those people were more ruthlessly mocked.

Needless to say, I do not agree with the idea that taking assets for the purpose of fanart is an indictment on your character and being. Big corporations make their money in all sorts of shady, immoral, and manipulative ways. Whatever motive they in doing that is one that would unquestionably be looked down upon by God (greed, seven deadly sins, etc).

More appropriate for the "other side" of the forum, but probably fine in this particular case:

I consider myself to be a non-religious spiritualist, and there are lots of questions and self-reflection that has come with it. I chose to be non-religious (not "atheist" because I do believe in gods and the divine) because I felt I could live a life of quality morals and values without an established doctrine. I also feel that religion (and this includes it's postmodernist replacement, "hyper-progressive politics") is an easy way to manipulate people into believing things that simply aren't compatible with the realities of our wonderful world.

Lesson I've learned is that everyone is trying to sell you something, and it's not hard to stumble into "bad information" (lots of it out there) that can pollute your brain. Especially in the information age where the biggest library in the world is possibly on your fingertips while you read the posts on this thread.

I respect any journey towards finding spirituality and self-growth, especially in today's psychotic internet world. But be careful, you wouldn't eat tarnished food that could damage your organs.

I really enjoyed working on Mugen Class (which you and a few others inspired me to do) in the forum when I was more active and less of a shitposter. And your impact on the community is undeniable, which I respect. All and all, I wish you the best in whatever is next in your life. :)

Tekken 7 showcased Kazuya's mom, her involvement in the Mishima conflict, and made her a playable character. Not a stretch to believe Jin's mom will be playable in this.

Lots of eyecandy in the backgrounds and effects.

Glad that Law is in, i thought the 'Bruce Lee' rule was added, but looks like Harada didn't follow it after all.

That was confirmed fake, Capcom even blacklisted the person who made that rumor.

^ Fun times

I'm barely active in the forums anymore, and not much more so on discord either. It would've been a sudden and unfortunate end had the place died with no warning.

It's easy to cling on to sentimentality (I still do it too), but nothing lasts forever. If it were all to end at some point, I'd be fine with it. It's not common for a forum to survive (and be active) for nearly 20 years. But strong communities find a way to adapt and adjust to events like a forum disappearing. And it helps that we still have an influx of new people who come in and offer what they have to share. And while they may have missed out on the colorful days of even 10 years ago (I wasn't around for the first 10), they'll make their own memories they can look back on.

I'm almost 30 now, so I'm putting more attention to real life than I did years ago (family, nearby friends, career goals, etc). But I'm also undergoing an artistic endeavor that I'm really excited about, that should keep me with the people around Mugen/Ikemen for many more years. No way I can stop being part of this wonderful community. :)

animation
I wish SNK would tinker with the animations too. They have a plain look to them at times, and the "stylization" has a jarring look in 3d. Majority of the motion libraries were made with KoF XII sprites in mind, where the posing lacks aggression in certain places. They also tween too fast (not SFIV bad but it's there), and you end up losing the distinct key frames for certain attacks and grabs. Choregraphing could use improvement as well.

"Dragon Punch-type" moves are animated really nicely. They have aggressive posing, and the recovery is tweened in a way where you can see the recovery motion. They're some of my favorite moves to look it in 3d kof.

Btw SNK don't do motion capture, all animations are handcrafted.

I compare it to Tekken on some points, when in Tekken 3, you can see new characters like Xiaoyu or Hwoarang pretty well animated when old characters still have weird animations from Tekken 1 and Tekken 2... And they kept many of these strange animation until Tekken Tag 2, with a big update of animations. But even in Tekken 7 some animations from Tekken 1 are almost untouched.
Don't want to digress too much, but Namco knew that those old animations sucked. Tekken 1 and 2 had no motion data (3 was the first game to have it), they use mocap as a guide but everything is done by hand. They changed the ones that were most necessary (Flash Punch Combo is a good example), while keeping vital legacy attacks intact.

Probably never.
Only finally getting around to this. Haven't played in over a year or so.

- I personally feel new characters should wait for a new entry at this point, I'm not exactly moved.
- When you have 70 or so characters, "style" overlap is inevitable.
- She reminds me of Leroy and that's not good. Not surprising, balance has gotten kinda wack since Murray started manning the ship.

At least she's not smaller in game than in the cut-scenes. Or edged out in tattoos, yeah I was not impressed with modified Sagat. :P

Hearing Huber had passed away was sudden and saddening. Nice that AEW really gave him a proper tribute.

I love this new crossover universe. Kinda gives a vibe of the times before the 1980s.

I love the work you're doing. I work with 3D too, I appreciate that other people are getting into it as well.

Sakura isn't perfect by any means, but 3D animation is very difficult. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Wish I could help more, but I'm not good with MMD. I work in Blender instead. Can't wait to see her finished. :)

Benimaru
The pose is stylized to look "dynamic" for lack of a better word. It's intentional and very much in character. Pretty much what Walt said.

Quote
Sakura
Her keyframes are weak compared to SFIV. Whoever did her posing could've done better in giving her motions more "whip." SFV animations are fine for the most part, Sakura unfortunately got a lower quality motion-artist. :P

But why can't SNK 3D models move smoothly like SFV or Tekken?
Their stiffness looks as if it's still PS2 era.
3D KoF animations are throttled in a way where windup to strike is too sudden, giving a unsmooth, "spastic" feeling. Probably intentional to emulate 2D sprite games as much as possible. Also makes sense since some animations date back to KoF XII.

KoF has always been about what's trendy for the times. In the early and mid-90s, it was simple looking characters that could easily be cosplayed. Later on when the more popular JRPGs introduced more elaborate "fantasy" designs, SNK followed suit. I really wonder how Ash, Liz, and Duolon turn out if mainline-KoF was 3D when they debuted.

I like the new characters in XIV. They give KoF a nice, modern flavor to mix in with the older, legacy cast.

Still business as usual where I'm at. I'm in a small sized city.
I'm sorry for everyone who lost someone or had them fall ill.

There's no way country can mass control this thing. Contrary to some of the dum-dums out there, there are countries who've done it right and still can't contain the spread. I don't agree with lockdowns, causes people to lose their job or business (making money is kinda important) over something that has no effective workaround, outside of protecting yourself and others. The problem is too many selfish and inconsiderate people, who are ignorantly anti-science. No cure for stupidity, so can't be helped sadly.

Seriously the worst guest reveal I can think of since Cole McGrath, one of the many great ideas from the masterpiece known as Street Fighter X Tekken. Numerous other characters to choose from and they decided to go with... some faceless derphead from a B-rate game, where neither fandom cares much about the other. That's cool, I suppose.

Iroha hype was fun while it lasted. :(

Irresponsible officer (a just system would see the little shithead get hanged or stoned) caused a massive shitstorm because he couldn't help but to kill an already cuffed suspect. Duh not all officers are bad, but you win and lose as a team. Police force and their supporters have to hold that L.

As said before, this is years of pent up frustration. Not just at police brutality (that was the catalyst and the main point of discussion), but at the overall oppression of Black America.

For decades, politicians pump perverse incentives (excess welfare) into the communities, mainly to black women. Then use the racist labor unions to keep black men out of work. Which in turn causes them to be rejected by their partners, because the government is a better financial partner. And then turn to crime, drug use, and other vices. Breaking up the family unit and causing an overwhelming amount of single parent families. Then the wealthy prop up and glorify a irresponsible and hedonistic lifestyle (promoted by hip-hop, the popular stuff anyway) and tell young blacks to emulate these people. Which in turn produces more blacks for the police to profile and/or to turn into a statistic. The end result is decades of generational decline.

This is modern day black oppression. It has little to do with slavery or segregation, contrary to what the masses would have you believe (reparations are totally laughable and will do nothing). Media has blame as well for excessively stoking the racism angle, selling anger and outrage to an already downtrodden peoples. That's for a different rant though.

It's not a coincidence that Black America is beginning to reject the Democrats, mainstream ones anyway. Sure they're not going Kanye-level Trump supporter, but they're tired of the empty gestures from all these white fox liberals (as Malcolm X called them). This is why despite everything going on, presumed opponent Biden is still not overwhelmingly favored to oust Trump.

I feel awful for the innocents being swept up in this. Looting and vandalism is wrong. I don't like that it's being justified, and it neglects the numerous people the lawlessness effects (person themselves, family, friends, etc). As for the mass protesting, this is something that do-nothing urban politicians and dipshit officers had coming to them for a long time. Take responsibility.
