"So Mugen is finally dead...", GOH remarked as he saw what appeared to be Jmorphman in the distance, as the creature consumed every last living being in the Mugen realm.

Pocket Fighter isn't canon so I don't have to count it! :ninja:

That poll above your wip thread made me think the palette has something to do with it.
Nope, that's just a long old poll that I have intermittently changed the answers to (long after the poll was closed), in an attempt to be funny that now fills me with with regret and a sense of cringe-worthiness (then again, I feel the same way about a lot of posts in this thread :qq:)

Since you guys are talking about chun-li, I'm curious about whether you were inspired by the twin peaks' woodsmen while coming up with that one particular shadowlady palette.
I only did two Shadow Lady palettes and those were just adaptations of the original MvC1 palettes to her CvS spriteset.

Also I noticed on stages with reflective surfaces, your demitri doesn't display a reflection--dunno if capcom was that attentive to detail in the source games. It's blowing my mind, honestly lol
I don't think Demitri has appeared in any games with reflective floors; maybe SvC had a stage somewhere, but not Capcom, I don't think. It was something just done for my version, cuz it's fun.

I mostly took inspiration from 3rd Strike, aside from EX Lightning Legs and EX Hosenka, which are based entirely on IV.

Aside from that, I think maybe EX Spinning Bird Kick in 3S had only partial startup invincibility (that ended shortly before the first active frame), but my version has her unhittable until the frame after her first active frame, which is how it is in IV.

We're truly living in the golden age of Super Robot Wars getting English translations: Super Robot Wars GC has just received a full English translation.

series list:

Super Beast Machine God Dancouga
Galaxy Cyclone Braiger
Galactic Gale Baxingar
Galactic Whirlwind Sasuraigar
Invincible Robot Trider G7
Strongest Robo Daiohja
Heavy Metal L-Gaim
Metal Armor Dragonar
Mobile Suit Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
Mobile Suit Z Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
Blue Comet SPT Layzner
Absolutely Invincible Raijin-Oh
Mazinkaiser
Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo
Future Robo Daltanius

Unlike most SRW games, GC uses 3D models for its battle scenes instead of the detailed 2D spritework the series is known for. It's also essentially the only Super Robot Wars game that actually uses the original Gundam series—for the first decade of the franchise, the original Gundam appeared in basically every single game, but those games either had little to no plot (the first few games) or just used a few mechs and minor characters from the show; this is in contrast to every other Gundam series, which all have at least one game where they're the undisputed star of. This is because it'd be very, very difficult to feature the plot of the original Gundam alongside it's many sequels: it'd be like, I dunno, trying to have the plotlines of both the original Star Wars trilogy happen while the plot of the sequel trilogy was happening, it just wouldn't make any sense.

This makes Super Robot Wars GC a real rarity, because it makes the original Gundam a centerpiece of the game, and finally gives it a starring role. And besides just Gundam, it's one of the only SRW games with Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo, which means it's also one of the only games with TEXAS MOTHERFUCKING MACK

The Hunter projectiles should fly above the heads of most characters (except if they're really really tall). BBH has to hit grounded opponents with her short range uzi fire in order to knock the opponent upwards into the missiles.

I spent quite a bit of time adding dynamic hitvels and tweaking them so that the move would be way more consistent; in source, if you did the move too close to the opponent, they'd get knocked upwards by BBH but then not travel enough horizontally to get hit by the Hunter's gunfire, so they just harmlessly fall to the floor and recover before BBH does. That's dumb, so I tried to make sure that kind of thing didn't happen.

BETA: https://network.mugenguild.com/jmorphman/wp-content/uploads/characters/BBHoodBeta.7z

now all i have to do is the dog and the butterflies, which surely won't be hard... :qq:

EDIT: oops I forgot to mention some stuff

 - I've incorporated a few changes from VS2, mostly just grabbing some buffs while ignoring the nerfs. But the buffs are fairly minor so I think it's fine and won't mess up the balance much: jump HP hits three times instead of only twice, charging the basket for Shyness & Strike is dramatically faster, and finally Cheer & Fire uses the VS2 hitboxes (... kinda. Even when I was using VS1's boxes, I already had modified their reach quite a bit, but so I did basically the same thing to VS2's larger boxes. So ultimately my version covers slightly more room than even VS2's boxes).

 - This is just a beta so I'm still using an sffv1: I haven't implemented the dual palette thingy, so every palette uses the default "B" palette.

 - BBH has some sprites of musical notes that were never used and I was gonna use them for her original intro but I forgot... gotta do this before the official release

 - Might change the Apple & Gun command, but it'd still be a button input. I just am not sold on the current sequence. Right now it's like, the exact opposite of Talbain's button input super, but I was thinking of having it start with MP or something, cuz that's a good button for her.

Using the dizzy animation looks weird on a lot of characters (they can get pretty varied), plus it'd be impossible to know exactly where the character's head is in that dizzy animation for BBH to place the apple on top of. Instead, I just use a MUGEN required get-hit frame and bind the apple to their mid.pos. It gets the job done.

"Bloodust" is a pretty universally recognized conceit to allow for two characters to fight who otherwise would avoid fighting, much less fighting at their full potential; there's really no way of doing these matchups in any other way.

I really don't want to continue to be a Debbie Downer here, but all of her supers look legitimately atrocious and it's insanely dispiriting to see that they have not only learned nothing about animating in 3D from XIV, but that they continue to make the exact same mistakes as they keep bringing in older characters/moves.

like for fuck's sake, how do you make the Kamen Rider super happen in the span of a single second... and have her say "sayonara" after the explosion already happened?

There are no plans for anything because there is nothing we can do with the forum.

What the flying fuck does that have to do with this topic?

I use extensions myself, but I do think the website managers should consider implementing one for the forum.
I agree, it's a good idea and we should implement it.

... but we are currently unable to implement even the most basic changes to the forum or its underlying software, and it is unclear when that will change, if ever. It's very cool and normal.

All but one super is done. After the last is finished, I can finally put out a beta, and get started on the dog and butterflies, the only things remaining (besides AI, I guess)

I ended up just making Apple For You use hardcoded values that change depending on the character + author name (or else defaults to a generic position determined by the character's mid.pos). There was an idea I had kicking around about encoding the x/y coordinates of the apple in the air file, as additional animations, but let's be honest: nobody's gonna use this hypothetical new animation standard, or at least not enough people will use it such that coming up with some new system to encode the values is worth it. So, instead, I'll just manually add the positions for each character I come across that's compatible.

But... there were only two characters in my entire roster that had the compatible Apple For You animations... and both were the Darkstalkers characters made by me. :qq:

I can at least add it to my own characters, I guess...

Instead of either removing the low/super jump of the config., or even remove her unique air jump gimmick if the super jump is enabled,

why not just make it so she can't cancel a low/super jump into a double jump? Her gameplay wouldn't be too broken this way, I guess...
That was how I originally planned it, and for a while, that's how it was while I was actually developing it. But I ultimately removed it because it felt so weird and unintentionally confusing. Trust me!

Yeah, the whole thing is complete hogwash.

Also they team up with Square Enix for god's sake for one of their biggest contributions with Kingdom Hearts,, who has prior been overjoyed at promoting their Tomb Raider gore porn and to please look at how much detail was put into our custom death animations over jutting a wodden spike through Lara's trachea.  Or just the other M rated titles they tout, even Final Fantasy.
Kingdom Hearts not only predates the grim n' gritty Tomb Raider reboot by over a decade, but it was also developed by one of SE's internal teams; the company as a whole was known for pretty anodyne JRPGs, and indeed, nobody at the time thought it was a bad fit. SE's huge growth as a publisher in the years since haven't made it any less weird for them to keep working with Disney on Kingdom Hearts games, because their core internal teams aren't making stuff that goes as extreme as NRS does. And so, Disney is fine with their classic cartoon characters being handled by that part of SE. On the other hand, it's pretty hard to imagine them being OK with a Kingdom Hearts game being made by the Tomb Raider devs (though I wouldn't say it was unthinkable at all, just unlikely).

Of course, that developer, Crystal Dynamics, did in fact get handed a Disney property, as seen by their terrible Avengers game. But Crystal Dynamics and Marvel felt like a good fit, owing to Marvel in general targeting an older demographic than Kingdom Hearts does; further, even though the new Tomb Raiders have those weird graphic violence bits, both those games themselves and the franchise as a whole are not at all culturally thought of as ultra-violent and gory games. No one raised an eyebrow at the announcement, nor should they have.

The same cannot be said of NRS. Everyone knows the reputation Mortal Kombat has, everyone knows what that brand is very specifically built on, what is its core lifeblood, what it pursues above all else. MK vs DC turned a lot of heads when it originally got announced, for very good reason! And DC has been and still is very insecure about "maturity" and is a lot more willing desperate to shove it's characters into all sorts of dark and mature situations, all of which is very much not true of Marvel. And especially not their corporate overlords Disney!

Do note that this hasn't been reposted by any legit game news site, only shitty superhero clickbait sites; moreover, the original source from this is some no name website nobody's ever heard of before.

There's also the fact that it seems unthinkable for Disney to hand one their most valuable properties to a studio strongly associated with their most major, direct competitor, a studio that is also owned by their biggest direct competitor.

None of that means it can't be true, but taken together, it doesn't seem very plausible.

Let's hope they give Netherrealm a bigger budget than they gave to Capcom.
that's not how that works

We do not give a shit if Dawn et al. is prejudiced towards glorious Nippon or transgender people or whatever. We do not give a shit if FortniteReddituser/Kishiryu/whatever doctored these screenshots to make them look bad.
