Just to keep updated, on the good news I started working on the porting to mugen 1.0, this implies fixing some stuff, adding a couple of new features (really small stuff) and making a high res HUD.
On the bad news, it's going to take a long while, because I have to work on the new characters as well, I don't want to stop working on that because it's, well, the main thing about the game. Both Etna and Ivy are kind of far from done, around 75% done, maybe a little less, which is a lot less than Soma and Crono 1 year ago.
Mainly this happened because my new job really eats away pretty much all my daily free time, so It can't be helped.
Still thanks for those who still support the project, there might be really good news somewhere in the next year for everyone who still follows it.

But yeah I need to update the FAQ sometime... since all supports are done and all but one character from my side are decided, I don't think we can take suggestions at this point.

I still have no idea on my remaining character so maybe you guys can brainwash me :P Still that's reaaaaally far away from now, who knows if we end up cutting some characters or something, that's why I insist on no suggesting characters now.

I've gotta ask; how is balancing for this game working out?  Are you taking a Smash Bros style to balancing and just trying to make the game be fun, or are you trying to make it a legit fighter?  Also, are there any systems in place to prevent infinite combos?  I saw some arrow juggling that looked like it could just keep going during the video, and it concerned me a little.

Also, I know everyone asks questions about the characters, and it probably gets so annoying, but I'd like to know if Dante from Devil May Cry is going to make any appearance.  I don't want to spoil any surprises you have in store, so I don't want to know what he is in the game yet, be it Green Card, playable, or background character, I just want to know if one of my favorite vidya characters is in this at all since I haven't seen him anywhere. 

Also; Beatrice (curious, what does she do in game?) from Umineko is a Green Card; are Visual Novels being accepted as video games?  Or is it limited to Visual Novels that have a real game to their name, like Umineko does with Ougon?

I sincerely apologize for all the questions, and I fully realize you do not have to answer anything, but I am very curious about this project since it is shaping up to be one of the most gorgeous 2D fighters I've ever seen.  Guess you don't need fancy HD sprites to make a game look great, huh?  Keep up the good work, guys!  I look forward to whatever you show next!

I think balance is not really the same as true fightning games but also pretty different from smash bros, so something in the middle I guess.

Yeah, I kinda agree with Ivy's obscenely large breasts being more or less accurate. It may not be pretty, but well, that's the way they are unfortunately.

So you'd be fine with sharing colors? I'm pretty much interested in EVERYONE... How about Walküre? She's my favorite after all.

Etna's is based in her actual stance pretty much used in every game, old one was one I made up so I don't think I'm changing it.

Ivy well... it's Ork who decided to go with that, I showed him various breast sizes but he went stubborn to don't make anything below that.

I guess I'll try to take advantage of Abysswolf answering questions and ask if we'll get to see the alternate colors or crisis card attacks that we haven't seen for existing characters in a micro update of some kind in the future?

I don't mind showing anyones alternate colors in particular, I think I did that before. For the CC attacks well, at least I'd like to have some of them hidden until a playable version arrives... but who knows.

The heath ammount/resistence seems to have gone down a considerable amount compared to last videos (the Objection crossfire took out half of Lenneth's heath!), was this just to shorten the video time?

I didn't record this one but I think the health was about at 80%. Still it was pretty lucky to Phoenix to hit 4 times.

About gameplay, I now just noticed that before the Crisis Card becomes useable the character walks back a little bit. Was that just to guard wile it becomes active or do you have to walk backward in order for the card to become useable?

Characters don't seem to be hitable while they are knocked down (on their back), will this be changed or will it remain as a gameplay mechanic?

I'm not sure what do you mean by knocked down.
I got a simple question I need to have clarified:

Is it true that you're waiting for the next version of MUGEN until you release the demo? Or is there something else stopping you from doing that? Cause as awesome as the videos are, well... how long is that game in development again?

I've said many times that we are waiting for the new Fighter Factory to come out before releasing a demo, I don't know why people are saying that we are waiting for the new mugen

Actually video is still uploading, but I need to go to sleep soon so I'll just post the basic update of the characters, video will be up in a couple hours.


Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile)
- Entire sheet was cleaned, fixed a lot of animations
- Cleaning was specially done to get better alternative colors (Hrist, Silmeria, Freya, and PSX opening colors are the best ones)
- Finished moveset, it was pretty much done before, we just retouched a couple of things
- She only had Glowing Pierce as a combo before, so we also made her whole combo moveset. Lenneth can summon einherjar (hittable) in her combos
- Holy Shields is her unique skill... I forgot to show it in the video, she summons her floating shields and changes her stance. With them she blocks projectiles without defending.
- Ptero attack can be done three times consecutively
- Her gameplay can be a bit tricky, she sometimes needs to keep freezing the enemy with the ice crystal (blockable) to keep a long combo.

Walküre (Walküre no Bouken)
- Lot of color separation and new animations
- Same as Lenneth, she got a lot better alternate palettes
- New normal attacks, most of them shield hits, special attacks are mostly the same
- New combos:
      Big Magic, Chameleon Magic , Zuhle's Shop,  Lightning Magic, Guard Impact
- Chameleon Magic is a magic that turns the opponent into a lame monster, such as Dragon Quest's Slimes:

we still need to do some more variations to it so the enemy can turn into random monsters, but that will be later on.
- Crisis Card Attack also done, but not shown in video
- Unique Skill consists in summoning an unique clone, which moves at the same time you push foward/back and attacks at the same time you push the attack button

BLAH, I forgot, Walküre has my first attempts at an AI, thanks to the advice of Steimpunk. She gets kinda annoying though.. really spammy, and it's not at very high random values.

I think that's it, I'm afraid there's no new stage at all yet. We want to start working on the next two characters (most likely Etna and Ivy) asap

Well I really have no idea right now... the whole project folder is like 5 gb big so far, but there's a lot of file cleaning needed.
I think characters are around 25 mb each one though.

I forgot, now that I'm posting... Lenneth was completed a few days ago, now we're making the end touches to Walkure. I really hope we can get a video or something before the end of the month.

Tried it a bit, I liked the whole idea about it though I have allways believed that any Megaman (being classic or X) should have multi weapons to really feel like Megaman. But maybe he would have too many attacks for this kind of game so I'm not sure, seems you went for easy movesets.

There's something about the gameplay which I don't know if has been addressed before, but bugged me a bit... it's about jumping. Being able to calibrate the height of the jump (what you call short and long jump) is a good thing, but maybe you should do the same for the horizontal velocity of the jump, I think it would make it more similar to megaman games. Maybe some kind of dash to some or all characters would be interesting as well.

So yes pretty much like winmugen... I don't mind remaking the screenpack to hires thought, I also think it would look much better (remaking all effects to hires in other hand at this point... would be too much of a pain)
The only issue I have with it is the stretching at full screen, it was already in winmugen but I wanted to get rid of that somehow, there doesn't seem to be any option for it in the mugen.cfg

I like how it looks that way, if it weren't for those black bars that eat the important parts. The bottom part was important for the card system and combo messages :/ Actually now that I think about it, without the black bars it would look exactly as 640x480 winmugen, the problem is fullscreen in winmugen. I probably have to configure my own resolution or something, it doesn't make sense it looks like that.

Small update for today, Walküre and Lenneth are almost done, only Crisis Card Attacks left for them, again sorry for the delay on them, hopefully next characters will be faster. But I kinda wanted feedback on something else:

Just out of curiosity, I tried using Chief and the Halo stage on Mugen 1.0...

.. and it does look kinda weird in 1.0, it sure eats a lot of space... I wonder if the porting will go smoothly :/
I'm not exactly sure how to improve that display, remaking the interface/screenpack to hi-res is a must, I guess.

? Touhou is real music. But I don't think there will be a 6th trailer anytime soon.

So for some news... there has been very little progress these weeks; job,sickness and stuff, and that made Walküre and Lenneth to be delayed a bit, but we're still making progress bit by bit.

I've been able to develop the first steps for AIs, at least now they don't act dumb (attacking to the air). Now they run to the opponent, backstep when in guard distance, use critical attacks when their combo bars are low etc, but maybe they're too crazy and hard on higher levels... though I restricted them to human capacity (so what's possible for them is possible for human players)  so it needs a bit more testing.
I can say for sure that if there's a WalkVSLenneth video one of them will have custom AI, or maybe both.

Yeah, pretty much every character is already decided, but we change our mind every now and then, like when Dedede was going to be playable, or how we demoted Mai to a support character even when we had her sparring moveset and vs sprite, it happens a lot.
For example I've been thinking lately to change BoF2 Nina for BoF5 Nina with almost the same moveset, I know she gets a lot of hate and personally BoF2 Nina is my most loved one by far, but her design in BoF5 is kind of original in our character roster... but I don't know yet, besides Ork hates BoF5 with a passion :(

Now that this has been bumped... and since I don't know where else to ask, did anyone around here get Lenneth's Code Break attack in Valkyrie Profile 2? I never got that attack, Freya owned me... hard, and since Lenneth's moveset is kind of limited we'd like to fully exploit her VP2 moves.
