So, apparently, somebody from inside Warner Bros. leaked out a section of the Character Select screen to Twitter, confirming the game's existence and working in progress. The picture has since been claimed by copyright and barred from public view.

For the longest time, I have wanted to see Nintendo get a piece of the Marvel vs. Capcom action. For 25 years, not a single installment has ever been on the 64, Gamecube, Wii or Switch. It could be due to suggestive content owing to the appearances of Morrigan and Felicia (on a related tangent, Darkstalkers is also another Nintendo no-show). Maybe it's the control layout: my sister owns a Switch, and when I tested the controls whose buttons are smaller than the controllers of the past, they felt more in line with exploring-type games a la Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon - they weren't created for fighting games in mind. The last one is a stretch, and it may have to do with Nintendo's preference in letting Smash be the primary fighting game, but then it would fly in the face of other fighting games that currently are on Switch such as Dragon Ball FighterZ, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy and Fighting EX Layer. Whatever the issue is, Nintendo has never been willing to have this or any other MVC game in its consoles.

There may be only one thing that could change that: a Nintendo guest character. Case study: Soul Calibur II, where the Gamecube edition featured Link from The Legend Of Zelda. It is also the only Soul Calibur game to ever be featured on a Nintendo console; Soul Calibur VI is not even on Switch. There was a spinoff released for the Wii, SoulCalibur Legends, but that's an action-adventure hack-and-slash game. Other consoles would have their own exclusive guest characters for II, Spawn for XBOX, and Tekken's Heihachi for Playstation. What if the only way MVC gets on Nintendo is to get a Nintendo rep? Keep in mind, when the Nintendo version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance was being made, Activision requested for Samus and Link to appear as guest characters - they even had models finished - but they screwed up because Samus and Link were developed on Playstation dev kits. Would it been as a Capcom request, or as a Nintendo demand - that's one worry. The other is the design - it would have to match the old CPS2 pixel artstyle, which to add, if MVC2 does extremely well, and the demand for new characters in that style were to increase, oh boy.

I have a feeling if either Nintendo gets involved, or fan demand is at an all time, pretty soon, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age Of Heroes could mean "Special Edition."

Reptar... me intrigued...

One series who may not get repped: Doug, and that's due to being owned by Disney, even though it was first a Nicktoon. If Nickelodeon plans to bring Doug to this game (most likely one of his alter egos Quailman or Smash Adams), there is certainly going to be a ton of red tape and paperwork required. Don't know if that would mean featuring Disney characters as a compromise, but I am so down for my lifelong dream of a Nickelodeon/Disney crossover.

Background: In collaboration with Steel Komodo and 087-B, we are pleased to announce the Rouge Sprite Sheet project. Sprite work is being handled by Countgate. Progress has been going smoothly: all movements and gethits are basically done. We are now in the attacks phase, dealing with basic attacks and special moves. We are looking for a second artist to help out on Rouge sprites.

The two animations are as follows:

1. A Jumping Strong/Medium Punch, based off of Kirino's Jumping A from Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax:

2. A Jumping High/Fierce Punch, based off of Sakura's Forward Jumping Fierce Punch from Ultra Street Fighter IV:

If you agree to take on this bounty, you will receive a select collection of Rouge animation sprites to help you with these assignments. Further instructions will be provided in PM.

Style: CPS2, must match its base sprite. I'm looking for experienced CPS2 spriters only.

Price Range: Negotiable starting at $25 (price will increase due to multiple animations)

Time Frame: Due to urgency of impending sprite sheet, time and quality will be equally important. I have yet to decide on a deadline date. Please provide updates.

The outlet also reports that MCU projects like Secret Invasion, Agents of Atlas, and Doctor Strange were tossed around for potential movies and shows that these characters could be introduced in, though nothing is confirmed in that regard.

Rumor has it that they are re-branding given the negative feedback of MVC:I. They are at least tapping the retrogaming market with beat em ups. I'm really hoping (but not expecting) they're going back 2D or 2.5D.

By rebranding, does this mean no more 3D art or crossover games from Capcom?

I *think* I got it. Had to download Fighter Factory 3 (Ver. 3.0.2000.2013).

But I think I ran into a weirder problem. The DEF, SFF and ACT files are now set, but whenever I reload the image/project, the palettes show up funky. The first palette's alpha channel in the table is always 0 (transparent), and the last palette's alpha channel is 255. I keep re-editing the first and last palettes back to their proper channels, but they always reset back to the previous values whenever I reopen the project. Is this normal?
