Lol, sorry! :tongue3: I ended up deleting my previous post to structurate it a little more. I feel like a dummy now :P

Correct, I guess. Even if this new content line-up looks a little more questionable than the previous, "traditional" games.

It's settled, then. Let's call this game "KoFXIV UM" from now onwards. :pleased:

XIII and XV both use assets from previous experimental games so I don't see why people are up and arms about the Orochi team being DLC. Heck, KOF'02UM was tagged at full price when they only replaced a single character: K9999 with Nameless and people went ape shit over him for being cool despite being a literal head swap.

But all of a sudden in 2022, people are getting mad about XV for "reusing old assets and making them pay money for it" when they've been doing it for over a decade now.

Yup, they only replaced a single character. And ported all other characters to a new engine. And then included literally every previous fighter from the games of that saga, along with their variations. And rebalanced the entire cast, adding the moves they had previously + some brand new stuff too. And changed the music, menus, stages, the arcade mode... And added some new game modes along with it.

Do you actually think a full-game price tag isn't justifiable in this case?

XIII also reused a lot of assets from XII (Vice, Clark, Hwa Jai, Saiki and Mr. Karate were all head swaps) but people didn't seem to mind as the game itself was solid.

But that's because XIII was always meant to be, almost literally, the relplacement and finished version of XII. SNK even went as far as removing XII from online stores after the release of XIII.

XII isn't a reliable reference point for anything nowadays, really; A better argument would be the 3 DLCs from KoFXIII, which were all alternate versions of characters from the base roster.

God, how I wish this Team SamSho rumor actually turns out to be false, at least for now. As much as the last game and the series as a whole is cool, there are just so many SNK franchises left, in my opinion, that should've been already integrated at this point into KOF, before we consider the teams who need some time-traveling/descendant excuses merely just to fit into KOF's logic... ¬¬

...That is, unless they go the "Goddess Athena to Athena Asamiya" route, and make a team with pretty much new characters, design & moveset wise, and just make them carry the name/legacy of their respective ancestors or something. That would be hella cool - almost too good to become true again, actually.

Right now for me, it's actually not bad at all seeing the Awakened Orochi Team finally getting the proper treatment as playable characters again.

It's just that this means it will take soooo muuuuuch more time until we see more actual new faces being revealed to the public... :[

Oh yeah, Phoenix Wright in UMvC3 is the perfect example of a "fighting but not fighting", detective style character. Thanks for reminding me that!

Also, this might be an interesting observation about the trailer:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

EDIT: Oh, there's gameplay footage of Taz and Velma already! :O

Velma is probably the most unusual pick out of everyone here, at the moment. While I usually stand strongly for the most variety and unpredictability of roster line-ups for a crossover of this scale, seeing other Scooby Doo characters being announced after Shaggy and yet not seeing his biggest buddy Scoob himself in here already, is kinda heartbreaking tbh. lol

That being said, I'm actually curious to know how much of the 50-or-so years old source material they'll manage to reference in order to give a interesting moveset for Velma, giving how rarely she's ever associated with fighting or action scenes in general, if I remember correctly. Pretty interesting choice, overall.

At this point, I'm just here wondering how likely are the chances we get to see the Winchester brothers, from Supernatural, as characters too! Like, c'mon, the absolute cheesiness of them recognizing all the other characters from TV and comics, while trying to understand what world they're really in, is just too priceless to not go with.

Let's teach those cartoons the fundamentals of the family business and salt-bullet shotguns! :gugoi:

(slightly outdated video, as the mod currently reached it's version 3.0)

Can now confirm - the voice mod support for this game is as good as it can be! :2thumbsup:

With this pack, plus the mod that allows you to put multiple music files for each stage and UI screen, + other visual & quality-of-life changes, the PC modding community of NickBrawl truly manages to increase this game's charm by A LOT...! :c00l:

I would like to know, what are you guys opinions about a Samurai Shodown trio potentially appearing as DLC?

This is literally the only character I was holding on to see, before buying the game. And withouth any warning, she's here! :joyful

And with Hugh Neutron & Rocko coming as well, I see the devs are trying to reach some masterpiece territories. :c00l:

they're literally selling stuff that is already done and should be in the base game

That's quite a bold statement you're making.

Are you telling me that a game like KOF XV which has 39 characters in its base roster intended to have more but just decided to sell them as DLC to make a quick buck? [...]

For a game like KOF XV? That's not so much of a crazy thought, at least.

Hello there! What do you guys think about including a character from the Maximum Impact games?

I stand steady for the idea of giving new breath to the MI cast for quite some time, at this point... Unfortunately, both the stablished roster of KOF XV + rumours regarding the next DLC teams strongly indicates that SNK still wanna keep them buried in the past. :mcry:

Like, for real... they're not even in KoF All Star, the game that manages to put freaking genderswaps and JOHN CENA as characters in there.

But MI is non-canon anyway [...]

and so is grown up Rock Howard. :uhoh:

Putting it shortly - they could effortlessly just make a *new* backstory for those characters that fit into KOF current """""canon""""", if they really gave a shit about it.

Also, the pre-ordering this game from Steam in Brazil costs more than buying KoF XV, what the fuck are they thinking with that price for this glorified emulator?
I wanted to buy the game to show support for the franchises, maybe that would convince Capcom that they're good enough to get more games, but no way in hell I'm gonna spend all that.

I'm pretty much on the same boat. If Capcom really is testing the willingness of their OG fighting fans through the sales of this collection, as common knowledge spread, then the current price of this game honestly isn't gonna help with the message really well, I feel... :/

Yes, I'm tempted to pre-order this, and I would like to spend big bucks on a glorified compilation of really good classics, if it was guaranted that they're gonna really try to bring new life to those franchises after the collection sells well.

Was a screenpack based on SNK vs. Capcom: the Match of the Millennium (the Neo Geo Pocket game) ever released?

I remember seeing screenshots of something like it, but couldn't find anything related to it this time. Neither here, nor in the Google results...

EDIT: ...Oh, nevermind. I just found it in the MFFA collection of NGPC content. ;P

(it's the one made by Silver)

I just love how different his sprites feel from the original KoF version.

Truly a professional level work - which goes well along your professional level of coding! :coollove:

The "simplest" way to do it would be to open a cns file in a text editor, use the 'Find' or 'Find & Replace' tool (shortcuts normally are Ctrl + F and Ctrl + H, respectfully), look for every line with "sparkno = s###" and then replace it's value with one of the default anims, like "sparkno = 3" for example. Or in cases where the custom spark is coded as a explod, change de value of this explod while putting a "f" right before the number, like "anim = f10" (this one doesn't work with helpers, though).

Then do the same for every other cns file. Yeah, that's the most reliable way of doing it, from what I know...

Well, I just saw, and this happened to me.

In state 6082: changed to invalid state 6082 (from state 5020)

This means that, when he is in state 5020 (a "get-hit" state),  there's a ChangeState controller somewhere that tells him to go to State 6082. But since there's no coding for state 6082 (it was most likely deleted by mistake alongside other stuff) he goes to this "invalid state", where he's stuck in the same animation and/or velocity that he had at that point.

Just search for the changestate that makes him go to that (which is either inside StateDef 5020, or between StateDefs -1, -2 or -3) and change it's value to to a valid state - or just delete the coding altogether.

Does it solves the problem?

Nah, but seriously now, there's not that much 'hate' for the stage, really. Just look at the general comments from it's YT video.
