Yea same. I have a feeling this stage is private and made by that shinrei guy.

i guess this become a heated debate as whats is normal haha

based on mugen default screenpack without change anything
for localcoord 320,240 character its 25x25
for localcoord 640,480 char its 50x50
for localcoord 1280,720 char its 100x100
for localcoord 1920,1080 char its 150x150
so if the char is native HD, its portrait will be clear

of course the question also can be answered as
how to make a clear 25x25 portrait
cant resize a hd into a small 25x25
the answer is like Nintendo ds said you need to draw it

for me change screenpacket to get hd is not normal
but if you scale down the portrait by half in screenpack like yugacurry said
character need to do following change
for localcoord 320,240 character its 50x50
for localcoord 640,480 char its 100x100
for localcoord 1280,720 char its 200x200
for localcoord 1920,1080 char its 300x300




I use all my characters in 320,240 with portrait size at 50. They're clear and crisp though.

The thing is... OP said normal ports, using a different size make it 'custom' and not 'normal' IMO.
I thought they wanted to stick with 25x25. If not, then my bad. :P

I guess you could call it customised but my understanding was customised would be anything other than the square box shape cuz even in 50x50, x-y axis remain the same, all you need to do is double the size in system Def.

Usually, when creating small ports people will not just resize an image and that's it, they will draw on top of it. This is almost obligatory if you're using 1.0 or below because of shared palettes. If you're using non-indexed images then don't worry about it.

Well, since 25 x 25 is very small, 99% of the images will become blurry, so you have to play a little with Photoshop settings. There are a few tutorials here by some small portrait makers:

I see, I've seen some people here who in Roster Showcase who post their normal port setups and their small ports are all super HD/HQ using art of the characters. So they can somehow achieve it without it turning blurry. I do use 1.1. I'll have to check around and see what I can do with PS. Thanks.

Yea I'm one of those people. Its all about using Photoshop then Bicubic interpolation to be smoother and you'll get perfect quality. The catch is that your ports need to be 50x50 and not 25x25. So you'll have to size it up in the screen pack system.def.

Thanks for the feedback.

The original afternoon edit was made with the old version of the daytime stage, and now that it's been a couple days I have edited it to match the updated version. So the floor/railing has been lowered a little, deltas have been polished up and so on.

Your afternoon version doesn't work. Crashes. Def has a spriteno = 3,2 but no such sprite in the sff. Guessing it ought to be 3,1 instead.

Like almost every other superman out there he is overpowered. Its cheap that he gains back health during the course of the match. It's great if this is for ai vs ai matches but won't work for human vs ai, unless against an OP character. Might wanna tone his damage and AI down like how Sean Altly did his Supes. You could give him an alternate easier AI option.
Nice improvement on the sprites though and really like that stage.

So I've been running this poll in my signature for a few weeks and I thought I might as well put it up in a thread for future reference, since such a poll hasn't been run in a while. The results surprised me a bit, even if only a few people voted.

I doubt those results are anywhere close to accurate. Majority use 1.0 and a good number have switched to 1.1. Ikemen is now getting popular but nowhere close to 1.0 and 1.1 popularity. Ikemen is definitely the future though just not at this moment.
