Hi, thanks for replying.

I need the hitdef on both.

The issue is once the helper bounces of the right hand side, it hits the oppenent but instead of it pushing the opponent further back it pushes him towards the helper, It shouldn't be doing that.

I actually tried ifElse(facing = 1,-8,8), 0 before, thought it didn't work. I just tried P2Dist x and still didnt work as well.

I have HitOverRide in state 1000.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I should of pointed out that it does hit once but when it bounces of the right the helpers hits twice, I figured out that it has something to do with the velocity. So instead of pushing the opponent back like a light punch would do, the helper pushes him towards the helper causing two hits.

Also, its really strange becuase I have the ground.type = high but once it bounces of the right it becomes ground.type = low it seems like.

I have a helper that bounce of each side of the screen. The issue is once it bounces off the right hand side of the screen and makes contact with the opponent, it will hit him more than once.

I think it's something stupid but I been on it for a while, no luck.

What? 'real' Ahuron did not work on this game. The names correct from what I can remember.

I may be wrong, but if its a normal grab then he'll need to be really close to the opponent? Collison will remain the same.

Alright, Ive been thinking about one of M.Bison's throws. Traditionally he grabs them with his hands and then trips, catches and throws them.


Would it be a bad idea to cut out the grabbing with his hands and start the new throw with something like this??


I think it would look great but is it fair? I'm not great with game balance but I want him to fit in other SF3 characters.

I think it's honestly down to what is best for you. I don't think it will affect 'game balance'. It's your project, your work and if you believe it will help him fit in more with SF3 characters then go ahead.

I personally dont think its a bad idea, the collisions will probably be in the same place anyway.

This is a really neat tool! I ran into some trouble using it however. When the images are exported, the transparency color isn't set correctly.




I tried with all size and multiple color settings, they all suffer this problem.

Set your background colour to black. #000000.

Try if that helps.

Are these necessary? it seems like your effects are using simple blurs in Photoshop? e.g. Blur, Gaussian blur

The tutorial is great for people who didn't know about this.

I just want to say. learn what he's actually doing and not copy the tutorial exactly, because the possibilities are almost endless. You can make really good effects like this with hardly any effort and time.

This is an OK method for a quick edit.
But you get a lot of color-loss. You can see in the purple in this image is gone on the scaling up.

One suggestion would be, because the sprites are probably already paletted and use maybe 32 colors, use the magic wand (photoshop) and set the tolerance to 2 or 3. The smaller the more accurate, but the more clicks you'll have to do. Click each purple until ALL of the purple is selected. Then cut(ctrl+x) and paste (ctrl+v) into a new layer. Once each part of the spark is separated apply the Gaussian blur to each layer. Use ctrl+e to combine all the layers back into one, and save as your png or whatever.

This is my attempt. I did the first image the way I mentioned, and then did it the original way

You can still see a couple problems.  I didn't do the large canvas size like the tutorial says. So this is proof you NEED to do it. You can really tell at the bottom. But if you want the green and the blue, adding the few simple steps helps.

I don't mean in this an offensive way, but you said his method is OK, but your one is worse.

First, did you change the background colour to black?

Second, you didn't increase the image size (you already stated this)

Third, You seem to be using the same colour palette that the original one had? bad idea

Lastly, by separating the layers and then applying Gaussian blur is a bad idea because each separation will be outlined with what ever background you have.

I hope I explained this OK.

I have always wanted to make an update to P.O.T.S original post. I think Memo's method is that absolute basic and quick way to do it, but neither gimp or photoshop are the 'best' method to imitate P.O.T.S hi res effects.

See how it doesn't blend in with the black background? I have made many effects like this before on Photoshop Pro 9 but never had this issue.
