Of all the wonderful tributes so far, this is the one that hit me the most personally.

-Ok Why are Sun/Moon 12 hours apart? What even is the point?

I don't like this idea much either but hey, that means for the first time in a decade I'll actually be playing a Pokemon game primarily in its day cycle.  :V

I liked Legendary Godzilla.

Pokemon Gen 2 is my favorite and I would argue the single most important mechanical leap the franchise has ever made.

Don't you mean Wulin Warriors?

I was one of the unlucky bastards who saw that in its incredibly brief run on Toonami.  The localization was godawful but even then the idea of an action puppet show fascinated me.

but good fucking lord that looks like hot garbage

I actually really like it.  It's Killing Joke by way of Batman TAS, and that's exactly what it looks like.  Given the cast and crew they put together for it, I'd probably be disappointed if it looked like anything else.

Their ship is destroyed, the crew stranded and enslaved, leaving only the intrepid captain, his most trusted officers, and the help of a [fellow captive?/native?] fighting to thwart the villain's plans and save the day.

Sounds like a damn fine Trek plot to me.  Hopefully the movie itself doesn't fuck up a perfectly fine setup by trying too hard to be Guardians of the Galaxy.

similarly, an animated Ghostbusters movie is in the works, for some reason. No real details on that, but maybe it's the rumored Channing Tatum/all-male Ghostbusters movie? Maybe like, the animated one will be continuing the original movies while the Paul Feig movie gets to exist on its own?

Part of me wants it to be in the glorious 80's style of this other animated Ghostbusters, though the 90's throwback style might be interesting too.

Or they could do something really off the wall and remake this.

Melee, hands down.

SSB4 is a definite second.  It feels like it has the speed back, at least to some degree, and the stages I've played feel a bit more... inspired? than anything from Brawl.

SSB1 will always have the nostalgia factor and I love it dearly but I can't in good conscience rank it above 4.

Brawl is my least favorite.  Everything felt sluggish and unsatisfying and none of the stages were memorable.  Story mode was a novel idea but... i dunno.  It didn't hold my attention.

I dunno, I rather liked Power/Ranger, though that might be largely because I realized very quickly into my first viewing that it was pure satire.  Taken as anything else, it was pretty much utter garbage, albeit fun to watch garbage.

Is it bad that they both look pretty much exactly like I expected them to when I read that they drove clear from Iowa to Massachusetts to shoot up a Pokemon tournament?

Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead

Mad Max if Mad Max was a zombie apocalypse directed by Sam Raimi.  Had me glued to it from start to finish, with one of the more satisfying final fight sequences I've seen in a good while.  I'm fresh out of watching it so maybe I'll be able to pinpoint its problems after it's had time to digest but fresh off the viewing it was a fucking blast and I recommend it.

9/10 knee-jerk reaction rating.

Star Lord in the Savage Land

I don't get it, this wasn't set up in any of the after-credits scenes!  Where were the other Guardians?  How did they even get there?  Why does Star Lord have a bunch of attack raptors, and why did he let them eat Fisk?  That's gonna be hell for Daredevil's writers to get around, I would think.

no but seriously

Jurassic World

I think the most important thing a movie needs to be enjoyable is to be fun.  Whatever fun may mean to you, if the movie was fun, odds are you at least won't regret watching it.  For me, Jurassic World falls just short of being fun, bogged down by boring one-note characters, overuse of the same scene (how many times can you hide while the soundtrack cuts out to build tension while murdersaurus hovers nearby menacingly before it loses its impact?  JW dares to answer that question!), and a poor pace.  Which is sad, since I thought the climax was actually pretty well executed, if incredibly dumb.  I can only imagine how much better it would have been if I cared as much for the people as I did the raptors.

Chris Pratt has better chemistry with the green tennis ball they cg'd out than he does with that baby-crazy idiot he dragged around the whole movie, ugh.

So is Drive worth watching?  I fell out of it two episodes in and wasn't hooked enough to pick it back up (I blame Gaim burnout) but with the batch of the first 25 episodes out I figured I'd see if there's a consensus on whether or not it's worth the time.

Also, I didn't think I'd've said this going into Goldstorm, but I'm actually kind of curious about what's gonna happen in ep 7.  For all its numerous flaws, it's legitimately got me more invested than Derpness or Makai no Hana did.

EDIT:  *finishes ep 7*

...is it just me or is this season stronger than it has any right to be considering it follows two of the worst characters in the franchise originally from objectively the worst season?  I mean, it's full of some dumb shit, don't get me wrong.  But I really want to see what happens next.  And the suit/CGI was pretty well balanced this episode.  I wasn't this engrossed in a fight scene last season until the final three episodes of Makai no Hana.  I also appreciate how between his two seasons so far, Ryuga is kind of getting hammered out into a proper Garo.  Derpness saw him drop the cocky attitude after going through some shit, and Goldstorm seems to be strongly suggesting he'll learn to control and properly channel his anger.

Caveat being when one's expectations are rock-bottom going into something, it's not hard to be impressed by anything.  And besides that, there's still plenty of episodes left for them to drop the ball hard.
