Less "PotS style" already please

I'm a bit peeved by the uprise of OHMSBY/Burst style since last year where it took off, no offense mind you.

For PotS style, which I know y'all will hit me for, I've been trying to differentiate, but there's just all these characters that could use some work, and a select few of you might agree.
I deeply disagree with the opposition to POTS Style character, i think we need MORE characters balanced to a specific style that embellishes mechanics from different games and whatnot.

And these words come from a person who would much rather have more "KOF-ish" characters since the style appeals more to me than CvS/POTS.

None really, edit whatever you want. You're not "wasting space" on the internet by posting your edits, as silly/pointless as they might be.

EDIT: Okay, i thought of something. What i said above still applies but i feel deeply disturbed by the whole concept of NSFW Mugen with the aggressor/victim bs. I still think people who enjoy it should be able to share between them these edits, but when big platforms like MA condone that stuff... it's a bit sad.

I installed this game once and even though i didn't really play a ton of it, i found it weird that a lot of characters have weirdly X,Y scaled sprites. Ryu and Sean, for instance, even in the videos/trailers and screenshots you can notice that, it's really weird.
Here is a visual demonstration

Wow they have a difference in height...

Maybe that's because canonically Ryu is 5'9" (175 cm) while Cyclops is 6'3" (190 cm).

If you don't think it's weird to screw over the characters' ratios, it's okay, but don't expect everyone to think it's beautiful.

Tekken in KOF Style sounds like a neat idea, i don't think the Tekken style translates too well to MUGEN, but the characters are really interesting so shifting the style sounds like a way to go.

POTS Felicia modified to use custom FX, still a W.I.P but i'm almost done with it.

Also i might refine the super portrait.

The sparks are from Vampire Savior, the super FX are from X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

I  think you're lucky that VSelect even worked with such a complex-looking screenpack. I really like the software but it seems to arbitrarily not open with certain chars and screenpacks without any displayed message about the reason for that.

Adjusted the shading

Looks great! Next step you could do as suggested above and try to change body proportions.

First and foremost i think you should change the size of the sprite. Since CvS sprites are usually bulkier, i'd personally scale it to 110% width x 100% height.

Then you could modify things like the size of the feet, the circumference of thighs/legs and other things that more experienced spriters could tell better than me.

?? how are you supposed to be informed without being let known about what the exact issue is? Being a beginner doesn't mean you should just ignore actual information that can help you out alot, that sort of just sounds like you're patting yourself on the back
I don't mess with that stuff, i know the basics but i don't think spriting is for me tbh

That said, i'm not defending myself, just the guy who posted that Athena sprite, i think it looks good but it needs to be worked on to look more CvS, i just think going to proportions and redrawing right off the bat is overkill if the guy doesn't even understand how the light source works.

How is that unreasonable?

What I mean is, that Athena still looks like a KOF sprite, but with some color and shading changes.
To make it more clear, here is a comparison that I took from here:

Yuri looks a bit more muscular in her CvS sprite, you can see it by looking at her legs, also her hands and feets are bigger than the SNK version.
What I'm trying to say is, if you want to make a SNK sprite more CvS'ish, you need to rework the proportions too, not just the shading.
This is supposed to be a CVS sprite thread though, so obviously people are looking for correct proportions/rules for the style

That just looks mostly like a KOF sprite with CVS shading (which is what many of Dampir's spritesets do look like)
I agree pretty much with you guys, the proportions and other details are very important, but at the same i notice that a lot of people here are beginners, so shading is the 1st step they go for, which is already hard and time-consuming. I'd say that adjusting proportions is the next step, because it may even involve totally redrawing of parts. I think saying "it's wrong" seems to not acknowledge that it's just a beginning for many of these creators.

Athena looks good, but doesn't feel like CvS.
Well, that applies to most Dampir sprites too. I suppose it's just a matter of making SF and KOF characters play against each other without having them look TOO different. But what do you think it looks more like? SFA?

Has anyone on here tried to approach Capcom about doing a fangame before? I have an alpha version ready to release, but I think I should probably contact them first to avoid getting into any legal trouble.
As long as you don't try to sell it i think it's fine.

But it means that elecbyte may give it somewhat of a chance if not then they would've given up the project, domain renewal ain't free you know

No, it's just $5/year, which OMG is fucking expensive for a grown adult with an average income

What I'm saying is that there is still that 1% chance that they will come out of nowhere, we can still hope, or move on to ikemen.
OR maybe just stay on Mugen?

Yeah, they got that right, if the game doesn't have rolls, i tend to jump a lot and also play with my waifu(s), especially King.
