Hi, I have a problem with bindtoparent helper

the alignment of the helper changes when the parent pushes an opponent. the helper works ok in other cases.

here is the code:

;Dash Forward Booster Helper
[Statedef 7005]
type = S
movetype = I
physics =N
anim = ifelse(Parent,Stateno = 100,6013,6014)
ctrl = 0
sprpriority = 3
velset = 0,0

[State 7005]
type = BindToParent
trigger1 = 1
pos = 0,0

[State 7005]
type = DestroySelf
trigger1 = parent,stateno != 100
trigger1 = parent,stateno != 105

hm...
i can only imagine one thing.
just try to write this state controler part in the state where you actually call the helper. personally, i always write this under the helper state controler.

[State 7005]
type = BindToParent
trigger1 = 1
pos = 0,0

i am sure in debug mode, it says "No Parent for bindtoparent"... Thats why i would try this one

That's not right, Zodiac. You don't place a bindtoparent state controller in the state of a parent. That's not only erroneous like you said, it just doesn't make any sense. You place the bindtoparent state controller in the state of a helper in which you wish the helper to bind to its parent. He has the set up correct.

As for the problem. There isn't much to be done to fix it. You can try to use a posset to see if that binds it better.

If that doesn't do it, then I think the only thing you can do is use an explod instead of a helper -- explods are less jittery when it comes to hitpauses, envshakes, and stuff like that.

oh man. i looked in the docs right now. sry for telling bullshit...just ignore the last post of mine. thx for mentioning that , 50 bit cent. learned something new again =) of course the bindtoparent state controler MUST be in the helper state, or else it does nothing.

i would also try the explod controler. i can confirm, too, that it works much smoother than helpers. generally, i dont like relying much on helpers.

thx for the help guys. I'll try to do what 50 Bit Cent said. Sadly the error with helpers appears also in RC8...
