Solution to all.

Play Melee when you're in the mood to play as Mewtwo, Pichu, and Dr.Mario.

Play Brawl when you want nearly everything else and more.

Solved.

Seriously, why will this always be such a huge issue with people..like if you can only play one or the other? Just think of Brawl as a sequel..which it is, rather then something that absolutely has to make Melee obsolete.

Not very fond of the idea of not being able to play Rumble Falls offline, or having the tournament rules as the default rules for VS (I think tournament rules takes the fun out of the game), but being able to play as just Ivysaur without having to switch between Squirtle and Charizard sounds pretty neat, and I like the idea of no random tripping.

Brawl+ is supposed to be a Melee clone except with Brawl characters.

Lately, in the Smash Bros forums and such, people have complained that Brawl sucked because it didn't have Lag-canceling, Wavedashing, Dash Canceling, Dash Dancing, etc. Pretty much all of the glitches that players exploited where taken out of the game, meaning that everyone had an "equal chance" to win instead of a game being based off of "how many glitches can I use to cheat my way into victory?" This is what Brawl fixed, including balancing most characters (not including Meta Knight :)) so that everyone wouldn't focus on playing as just Fox, Marth, Sheik, Falco, and Captain Falcon.

The Melee scene is still alive, last Saturday there was a tournament in my area.

The only thing I hate about Brawl is tripping.

Brawl+ is supposed to be a community hack to rebalance the characters.

Lately, in the Smash Bros forums and such, people have complained that Brawl sucked because it had characters randomly tripping when they tried to dash, one of the characters was a 3-in-1 that forced you to switch every two minutes or else you'd be a sitting duck, and most attacks had so little hitstun that they gave frame advantage to the defender, pretty much meaning that every character not named Meta Knight had no options to make an effective rushdown. Pretty much all of the glitches that players exploited where taken out of the game, meaning that everyone had an "equal chance" to win instead of a game being based off of "how many glitches can I use to cheat my way into victory?" This is what Brawl fixed, including balancing most characters (not including Meta Knight :)) so that everyone wouldn't focus on playing as just Fox, Marth, Sheik, Falco, and Captain Falcon, but just Meta Knight and Snake instead.

Fixed. Also, Dash Dancing is present in the original Brawl.

I find it ironic that on a community centered around taking the sprites from fighting games and replicating the characters they belong to in another engine, then making Shin Omega God Orochi edits of them, so much hate is diracted at a simple character balance hack.

Anyway, I recently installed the Homebrew Channel and had a chance to fiddle with this. I only played for a litle time, but here's what I could see:
- Increase in htstun is not apparent at first, but play for a while and you'll start feeling the change.
- Random trips when starting a dash are indeed removed. Yay for that!
- You can only grab a ledge when going down. In my opinion, it makes more sense this way.
- Jumping with a running start makes you go farther.
- Sonic's dive kick has its recovery frames greatly reduced. It's much more useful now.
- For some reason, Captain Falcon's Final Smash freezes the game in the current build. It's a known bug.
I will not give you whatever time you wasted reading this back.

Most of us openly despised the SHIN OMEGA GOD OROCHISSJ3 phenomenon.
Just saying.

Anyways, I haven't seen all that much hate.

That right there is enough reason not to download it.

Actually, I'm with you on that. I'm not touching Brawl+ again until they fix that bug, but I'm still interested in it.

no, you've got it wrong but i can see where you were going with that. it's a community in which bug reports involving things that are minimal details to casual players (clsn boxes, hit priorities, damage values, and velocities) are common

the captain falcon bug sucks, but if you're that much into recreating the melee experience you could just turn off those super moves that melee didn't have

This

Also, I never figured Titlin as a Smash Bros kind of person.

I actually enjoy the Final Smashes, but thanks for the sugestion anyway . And Brawl+ plays like Melee as much as Brawl plays like 64.

I think I'm better off not posting here anymore. If every post minimally supportive of Brawl+ makes me look like an irrational Melee fanboy, what's the point?

Don't get me wrong, Melee is fun in its own right. Hell, Melee tournaments are still around unlike other fighters. I play Melee all the time and finally mastered Shuffling. Modifing Brawl and trying to make it a game its not is what gets at me.
