So they gave me some sleepy happy time gas and it made me go to sleep and when I woke up the operation was done and everything went well. Well, except for the fact that they had to shave my belly and now it's like The 40 Year Old Virgin down there.

It turns out that my dreams get really weird when I'm hopped up on painkillers; I had this one dream where I was at a pool and when I got out and went to the locker room it had turned into what looked like the outside hallways in a multiplex (still had lockers on the walls, though. With carpet matching the walls covering them, even) and wouldn't you know it but the cast of Community (well, just the study group, minus Chevy Chase) was there to watch that night's episode with a bunch of fans and oh my god I was gonna sit right in front of them (I guess because my locker was there?) and they were calling me by name like they were all my best friends and I was a little bit late and the show had just started and I was cursing myself for staying in the pool too long even though I knew about this special event so I ran to put my stuff in the locker but then I tripped and fell into Gillian Jacobs' lap and I'm pretty sure I said "how's that for gay rights?" to her and then I woke up.

Ugh, I was legitimately disappointed ParaNorman lost to Brave at the Academy Awards!

I mean, don't get me wrong, I liked Brave, but to me it felt safe. It had a good story, but it followed the standard "follow your heart and love your family, and happy endings to everyone."

ParaNorman, I felt, was the better movie. The morals were a lot better for one (ie: Forgiving people who have wronged you, the dangers of following mob mentality and being complacent, doing the right thing no matter how much people oppose you, etc), and the movie took a lot more risks in content matter, special effects, and story-telling. At times I forgot I was watching a PG movie and felt I was watching art.

I mean if you want something that won't take you out of your comfort zone, Brave is good. But the whole point of the Academy Awards is to commemorate the exceptional, which I think ParaNorman did much better.

Then again, since the Academy Awards tend to be baffling (ie: Titanic winning shitloads of Oscars, Citizen Kane getting a single Oscar due to William Hearst's interference), I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Also Seth MacFarlane embarassing himself on stage should've been a sign of how much of a farce these things are.

the reason I wish I was you is I have an issue with red blood cells that causes gall stones and the resulting pain/infection 3-4 times a year, but same blood cell issue means no surgery.  I want that danged thing gone NOW!
