It's actually closer to what I meant. You're taking the term "survival game" literally based on the games you expect. It's about managing your survival - but not about being constantly low on health and hiding / on the run from the slightest movement in the trees because your character is not able to hold out more than 5 seconds in a fight.

That depends if they keep that up after this one. I'm hoping she'll learn to be a proper badass by the end of the game, meaning the helpless side will dwindle away (they seem way too keen to make her suffer in everything we've seen so far), and that would mean no college girl cowering in fear and getting impaled all the time (in the story and not just in death scenes) for the next game.
(I actually like this one being realistic with its heroine knowing nothing and learning the good stuff along the way, but I'm not playing a weak character that has no idea what they're doing and shudders in fear all the time for several action games, I want her to actually learn and get good at it)

As I recall, that was not the intention to keep her like that.  By the end of the game, she's meant to have matured mentally into the Lara that's known.  This is just her first experience that made her into the character that she'll become.
