Chizuru, what are you doing there? That's not your family!

She is probably angry because SNK didn't brought back her sister from the dead, so she went to the Tekken earth

Jokes aside, nice trailer

Xiaouyu trailer

I found my main character  :coollove: I really love the hit sound design in T8.

The best Dragon ball Mugen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzQkB1gVtXA
The best music I ever heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmVnhQvMV6U

I can confirm H&M stores have undergone renovations and our new founder, Leroy Smith, now overlooks all that is drip.

Magma MK-II

I just hope characters have proper arcade mode endings this time and not whatever the hell was that thing they did in 7.

Seadragon77

Kind of hoping so as well... speaking of story, the bios for each of the characters revealed so far are up. Here's where we are.

Spoiler (click to show)

The War between the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corp is finally over as G Corp has taken over the world thanks in no large part to Kazuya and his brutal tactics. After killing off Heihachi, the Zaibatsu was left rudderless and G Corp swept in and blew them out of the water. Kazuya and G Corp now rule the world with an iron fist... Jin and Lars are teaming up to begin a plan they call 'Operation Lightning', which would eliminate Kazuya once and for all. BTW, during that time, Lars formed a new military force called Yggdrasil to provide enough firepower to win the day. What Jun's role in all this is unknown because all they have on her is basic knowledge of her past.

In order to reach Kazuya though, Jin and Lars are going to have to get past two of G Corp's biggest threats: Nina Williams and Jack-8. Nina, once working with the Zaibatsu, left after failing to get Jin during the events of Tekken 7. She was then recruited by Kazuya to join G Corp and name commander of their army. Jack-8 is the latest prototype of the Jack series, still made by Jane after all these years. This model has a vastly improved AI system then Jack-7, making it a far deadlier threat.

As for the others...

Paul: He entered the last tournament hoping to get that sweet, sweet prize money... but the tournament got suspended after Heihachi's disappearance (read: death). This meant that Paul only got a little bit of the prize money and... now it's gone.

Law: Thanks to the crushing debt that came via his son's motorcycle accident, his dojo became neglected and students left. He was hoping to find a teacher to help keep the dojo afloat, but all negotiations ended with total failure. Now to throw salt/battery acid/lemon juice to this gaping wound, Law's dojo was repossessed as collateral.

King: An active pro wrestler who also runs an orphanage on the side, the war between the Zaibatsu and G Corp has created a massive swell in orphans around the world. In order to get the money needed to help them all, King is going to have to go all out in this tournament.

Xiaoyu: First and foremost, they finally let the cat of the bag here... she has feelings for Jin (about damn time they admitted it, too). She sneaked into the Zaibatsu hoping to find information on Jin. She's searched all over the world, finding clues here and there... but it's been six months and nothing - no leads and possibly no hope left. But, she goes on trying to find Jin and find out what she wants to know about him.

So basically, same old same old but worse for our heroes.

Over 25 years later and they are still using Tekken 3 as a base for some.

God dammit.

dunno whats new here? Xiaoyu feelings for Ji is old news, and in Street Fighter X Tekken how can anyone not see it when she says that Jin Belongs to her!

I guess that has something to do with the fact that Tekken 3 is the highest-selling Tekken game of all times

Spoiler: Yea about that... (click to show)

She doesn't technically say that.  In the JPN audio, it was more that the power of Pandora belongs to the both of them, as they were both already leaned too closely on its influence.  For some asinine reason, some dialouges in SFxT make up their own stuff instead of being accurate to the JPN audio.

But yea, it's a no brainer and pretty sure she confessed at some point.

There has been some gameplay notes passed to influences with hands-on notes and right now, the gameplay heavily favors aggressive offense instead of the defensive playstyle we have seen in past literations.

Doesn't help that I'm gonna be subjected to seeing blue flame power ups every couple of seconds.

Other changes includes Rage Arts at -13 and not launch punishable, adjustments to get-up attacks and how it will no longer cause knockdown, backdashes now worst for some, hold forward to auto-run like it's Blazblue Tag, chip damage is a thing (oh boy).

oraora?

I don't know why I have a feeling that after Kazuya is done once and for all, Lars might use his sissy gun to shoot jin from behind and jin might be dead too, and later, Jin morphs into another form of devil jin, even more powerful to try and kill Lars, so in Tekken 9, it is gonna be Jin and Lars killing the heck out of each other :P

My real life is coming soon........!

Man, Leroy's back, my man!

StevenB

I'm really surprised by this current stream of reveals. I wonder if that means the launch roster is gonna be really big? Outside of Leroy and Jun most of the characters are still the more or less standard fare Tekken characters though. I think we're missing mostly Yoshimitsu, Lili and Alisa I think now?

Leroy Smith, now overlooks all that is drip.
And I suddenly called his tagline.

Seadragon77

It's good to see Leroy back. The dude is the master of all the drip. I wonder if he'll have moves where the doggo is involved like in 7... and also, it makes me want to see Fahkumram come back as well. I need my big Muay Thai boy.

Asuka coming back is also nice to see since she was basically the pseudo-Jun from her debut in 5 until now. It also means that Lili is not that far off from making her presence known here.

I don't think either Lili or Alisa are that important. Yoshimitsu, on the other hand, is a perfect attendance character, and outside of him the only other character I'd consider a "must have" is Hwoarang. Anna and Lei should be too, but they've been sidelined so much in previous titles.

Oh true, I forgot about Hwoarang, I feel like he's pretty much guaranteed to shop up (and Kuma too, considering). Neither Lili nor Alisa are pretty important no but I think since either character's introduction they've been launch characters since due to their popularity.

Yoshimitsu not being revealed yet probably has to do with his appeareance being so drastically different each game. The Tekken 7 one really grew on me so I'm curious if they'll be able to surpass that.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I find Leroy to be absolutely bland and quite silly.
Wasn't surprised when he was revealed for 8 since he's really popular, but I'm in no way excited as some people are.

Flowrellik

Man, I'll be killing my wallet in anticipation for this game now. Every char is in their fighting prime, Jun Kazama's back, LEROY is returning, so I'll be giving some Jenkins style whoopass, All we need is maybe Ogre, Yoshimitsu in his badass samurai form, or idk Demon Heihachi and we got something worth playing for years on end  :steel:

Lili and Alisa are very popular characters though. They're pretty much guaranteed to return and at this point you're not going to have Asuka and Lars respectively without them.

A few more story tidbits to add, BTW...

Spoiler (click to show)

After the events of the war, the United Nations met in New York City to decide the punishment given to G Corp for the damage they've done. Kazuya catches wind of this and goes to New York City and the UN meeting to basically 'You are going to punish me? Nah... I'm going to punish you.' G Corp then proceeds to wreck New York City in the process.

As for other tidbits...

Jack-8: The big weapon is called the Gamma System. It has an EMP on it, among other things.

Paul and Law: To go along with their stories, the two are currently training in the mountains to make themselves stronger.

Jun: Apparently, it's been seven years since Ogre appeared and attacked Jun... wait, seven years? What, they hold these damn tournaments every quarter or something?!?

Now, for some new info... the stories are out for Asuka and Leroy.

Asuka: She finally defeated Lili in the last tournament (had to happen before it got suspended, I assume), but it left her with nightmares of what Lili have done to her home dojo and stuff... while this was silly and all, things are about to change for the more drastic now that the G Corp has won the war.

Leroy: Just as he got to Japan, Heihachi goes missing (read: thrown into a volcano) and G Corp does a number on the Mishima Zaibatsu. Leroy heads back to New York City when G Corp decides to continue the fight. Leroy's target is now Kazuya.
