ok I tried something, please tell me in a day or two if you're still having troubles.

Valodim

that didn't work.

did some more tweaking.. I think the database just got bigger, and it's been a while since I fine tuned the mysql server parameters :)

Jesuszilla

IT'S BACK!

That downtime tonight (or last night...?) was so long.

And throughout yesterday, still had scattered 500 errors.

Valodim

I know, I did some stuff yesterday, but ultimately couldn't fix it and so I didn't leave it up in a broken state but just took it down

Could it be a hardware problem?

Valodim

checked with the hoster, they say that's not it.

I'll keep fiddling with the values, hope I'll catch the culprit some day soon.

Mog

Have you noticed it will take a long time loading and get progressively longer with each refresh before the error?  Almost like a high server load or something.  I know nothing except the nasty experience I had dealing with a messed up server for 10 months.  I think the tech support guys dreaded seeing my name.

Tell me about it.

Did MORE STUFF, but at this point I am kinda resorting to random stuff, hoping something fixes it..

Big Dick

Get a new Simple machines forums version RC4.
This will fix everything.

NGeo

maybe the forum is suffering from a DDoS atack  --;

Luis Alejandro

I don't think I can handle another forum change...

Valodim

it's not DDoS, and a new forum version won't fix it :)
