Just wondering whatever happened to last blade?

snk should give more attention to their games besides KOF, am I the only one who thinks last blade is one of the top games back in the day? who killed their master moriya?kaede? who and this setsuna guy who is he? whatever happened to zantetsu's grandson? I love to see some snk/neo geo games to be resurrected.

I could ask the same thing about Capcom completely forgetting about Plasma Sword and Slammasters

I mean yeah it's very out there to expect someone like Shaker or Titanic Tim to be in the newest crossover game, but y'know...

SNK cant afford to gamble with their other series cause right now they are just starting to get KOF into the mainstream again.

As for Last Blade, you get pachinko spinoffs with Akari. Fun.

And I can also ask why SEGA forgot about Shenmue. At least they made Yakuza in exchange, but I still want to know the end of Shenmue's story God dammit !!!

when it comes to sega and shenmue its probably just that they fear a new shenmue "HAS" to be as breathtaking in 2010/2011/2012 as Shenmue 1 was in 1999. Somehow such companies often use that as excuse tough while many..damn many of us would buy and enjoy a Shen Mue 3 with DC or "HD" DC graphics.

Same engine as for shenmue 2?. I wouldnt have a problem with it. Its a Game where the story and sailors count

About the topic and the Last Blade. Sure it was a nice game but was it really so great or better compared to other fighting game series by SNK and their competitors?

Shemnue was made with such a loss that everyone that owned a dreamcast at the time would have to buy the game twice for it to turn a profit.

Plasma sword was a beta star wars game that got cancelled and capcom continued with it anyway and Slam masters was about wrestling, and they realized it looked lame.

Nothing ever ends

Slam Masters still had 2 sequels, it must have turned some profit at some point - other than that, I'm not too into the developments in wrestling game history to know if what it did right was done better by other games since then. I recall reading high praise about some N64 game, so if that's where that genre peaked, I don't see it coming back...
There's always a chance of more SSF4 DLC outfit with a minor change of referencing a Slam Masters character in them...

Last Blade is amazing. The characters are memorable, the gameplay is fluid and diverse, the backgrounds capture your attention, the music is beautiful and hell even the story that most won't pay attention to is solid. It's a damn shame all anyone knows it for is Akari...

dammit who doesn't like all the characters in LB and LB2? story wise LBandLB2 has better story than kof.

Story is pretty much the least important thing in fighting games. Probably LB 1 & 2 never got so much attention since KOF was on it's prime at that time. Which is a shame as the Last Blade 2 is probably the best weapon based fighter ever made.

Last Blade and more so Last Blade 2 were extremely well made. The animation was fluid. The characters were VERY diverse. There were a couple of small hidden things. The characters evolved and changed between games. The backgrounds are FUCKING AWESOME. Over half the BG's i've downloaded for mugen are from Last Blade. The sound effects are excellent. The gameplay is well made and an infinite combo is actually impossible. The dampener takes you down to 0 damage eventually.

Also the whole weapon system is nicely varied and thought out.

In M.U.G.E.N there is no magic button

what happened??? snk died is what happened, and playmore is barely hanging on. capcom should have bought them as a unit and preserved their stories and their many series. even that would be better than what we have now. (or would it???)

Considering how reluctant Capcom is of picking up their own Darkstalkers franchise again (Morrigan in crossover games doesn't count), it's highly irrealistinc to expect them to do any justice to LB should they ever get the rights.

Although the weaponry is seperate from the sprites themselves to some extent and i think you can cause p2 to drop his weapon. (although i only vaguely remember that and i may be confusing it with sam sho)
