His I'M NUMBER ONE doesn't even sound like it, it sounds like AYYE NUGGAEY WHYEE, perfectly maniacal and nonsensical. :3

This whole thing sounds like an awesome idea to me.

I offer my complete support if you want to upgrade alpha edits or even transport them to CVS (actually I did the Evil ryu stance time ago, but needed improvements)

Why not just upgrade his old alpha sprites? Ryu could even use more intros in the same vein.

I agree with just updating the current sprites. I'd rather it not stray too far off from the originals anyways. I was just saying what Reu had planned in relation to the CvS comments. Also, not sure about the idea of more intros. As PotS said about the "energy arc", that would be adding on rather than fixing.

I know it's already being looked at, but really work on those collision boxes please. *lol*

Is that what he was saying all these years?! o_O I always thought he was just saying jibberish and after reading this and listening to the sound file I heard it crystal clear; what has been heard cannot be unheard!! :sugoi:

i think its edited from hugos sounds.
but i might be wrong, reu was very creative, could be 100% original.

This is all nice things. It is great you are doing this in memory of one of mugen's greats. I respect that.

When all is done...How about making Evil Ryu and Evil Ken into 1 single character with a tag feature?

It would give new meaning to the term "The Evil Duo".

P.o.t.S., can you check the statetype of the states? I remember hearing that some moves like the roll (dodge - KOF) has movetype = A to lure opponents with AI to attack whne they shouldn't and then counter attack them.

Does anyone else think the random chance for MSSM moves can both get in the way sometimes and make room for hail maries that shouldn't exist in fighting games (i.e. lucky shots)?


I suggest making those MSSMs Level 2 Supers. With that cool blue after image 8)

Or, give the Duo a Rage Mode that activates when their health is low. Thus changing their Regular Supers into the Meta Super Special Moves!  >:D

Well, if you were doing a sort of remake and were taking more creative liberties, I think the MSSM should only appear as the 3rd super when super canceling, as well as Lv2 supers, but since this is a sort of "homage", I think it would defeat the point of not changing Reu's chars too much, as the random MSSM are really part of his gameplay.

At most, I'd suggest toning them down, as you're doing for all moves.

I Agree with cybaster, MSSM should stay as they are... and the ashura zenkuu don't nerf it  :sadgoi: it makes em  dunno what they are also in some way xD i wouldn't recognize em without those evil cancels from warps :x

Props for you for trying to update those beasts :P

I agree with whoever said cancelling the warps is part of their gimmicks, to follow P2 in some combos and the likes.  What I think I'll do is make supers have no invulnerability when cancelled from them, so that they don't make warps so safe.

About Ryu's moves:
- Considering making MSSM Metsu Joudan Sokutou Geri the normal one, and something else as MSSM
- Unlike Ken who is loaded with instand overheads, Ryu doesn't have any.  Now I already made his dive kicks possible as soon as you jump, but he could still use a classic overhead.  Dunno if it should be Akuma's chop or the current close heavy kick (with different properties)
- Does anyone have the 0.95 version (previous one)?  I seem to recall that MSSM Shinkuu Hadouken kicked ass there and would like to take another look at it.  I probably have those and older ones around, but have no idea in what CD/drive they'd be.

Oh and I only ever talked to Reu about the Evil Duo back then, which to him was already old and somewhat flawed stuff while the 3D chars were his new shiny works, so don't expect Dragon Claw to be tweaked as much as them.

I really think evil ken needs a new voice honestly... It's just so weird to have an iconic character making weird grunts and DAAARGHs.

But otherwise, I hope this turns out well. I've always wanted Reu's stuff to be balanced out.

Evil Ryu's fully charged stance should not be considered an attack since it causes characters to go to their blocking states.

Well this thing about the 'New Mugen' Sound pretty serious to me  o_O, I hope you update then in a CvS sprite set, that would be awesome  :sugoi:

I hope you update the voices of the Evil Duo.  We all know Evil Ken's voice sounds stupid albeit unfortunately iconic ("...ow" for a KO voice, what joy), and Evil Ryu's voice wasn't perfectly ripped (I know one voice clip that got cut off).

That's my favourite character voice ever!! always wandered about the source...

Okay people. I understand that you all want to "improve" (change a bunch of shit) on Reu's Duo and what not, but that wasn't P.O.T.S.' original plan. His plan was to bring them to New MUGEN. That was it. Sure, there may be new features implemented to better adapt to the new engine, but what you guys are asking for and requesting are complete changes to the characters overall. Like changing E. Ken's voice and other what-nots. If you guys want to do that you can change that stuff yourselves. Just let P.O.T.S. do his thing and give more...reasonable suggestions. Just saying.  8)

as usual i didnt read the whole thing, porting to the new version of mugen sounds good, fixing REAL bugs sounds good too, starter mistakes like some crazy priorities here and there, going back to idle after attack frames, pallette separation, sound cleaning etc would be great too

reducing damage output and maybe comboability (not sure about the plans there), the stuff u want to change to make them more "fair" sounds wrong, i dont know what original agreement was between the two of you but if these kind of things were never discussed i say leave as they are, these two guys were his babies as any other creators first attempts and may not have edited them to be more fair on purpose (i feel the same way with my early crappy dudes being the later a bit better yet not uppdating the frst ones which is the reason im bitching now)

i guess a more detailed explanation on what gameplay changes are to be made would clear this out and improve the discussion as to what is tribute and what would be crossing the line a bit of another very respected late creator, or if i understood wrong to shut me up

neways a tribute is always great and sorry for the semi text wall
