What is the best free file host service in your opinion?

I've used what I like to call "the big four" for ages, which are mega, mediafire, onedrive and google drive. But I noticed a few things on each of them:
- mega sometimes just won't open for some reason, the site doesn't load (I remember fixing it by changing the proxy on my browser or something) and I've seen other people complaining that mega doesn't work for them. I like it because it's well organized and offers 50GB storage in the free plan, which is a lot (it still has download limit though).
- mediafire has ads, which many people dislike, though is not a big deal for me, and I've seen people backing stuff up from mediafire saying it can delete files if you're not active, don't know if it's true.
- onedrive has been ok but lately I've seen people having trouble to download my stuff from there, saying is not reliable.
- google drive has an annoying limit on how much you can download, other than that I don't remember any other issues.
There is also dropbox which I've been using for some time, I don't remember having issues with it.

I want to stick to one service, as it is too much work keeping my stuff updated on more than one service. Ideally I also would like a service with direct link. I could upload my characters directly to neocities, where my website is hosted, but they only allow .zip or .rar files in their premium plan. Speaking of direct link, I also tried catbox, but you have no control over the files you upload there.

Edit: forgot to say, I'm currently using onedrive to upload files because you can edit the link and it becomes a direct link, which is what I want. But reccently I saw people having trouble downloading from there.

MEGA has a limit on how you can download, if it's bigger than 4gb and you don't have a paid account, you have to wait a lot of hours to download, and on my phone it's kinda glitchy, putting downloads in the root folder of my phone or cancelling them outta nowhere. I can't even download my compilation that i left there

Google Drive is the best but i can't upload big files to it on my phone anymore for some reason, only small files work.

Mediafire is good but i could only upload one compilation there, because when you have a free account you don't have that much space compared to other ones

Onedrive is completely glitched to me, only some OneDrives (such as Sennou-Room's) work for me now.

Google drive, despite being limited to 15 GB and of course that quota limit (that ones the worst features :P), but its overall the safest & easiest to use. Its easier to make updates to ur files without having to fully reupload & its connected to ur gmail account, so you can also upload with phones and tablets.

- mediafire has ads, which many people dislike, though is not a big deal for me

Theres actually a neat trick that prevents it, right click on the download button and click on "Save Link as", No Pop-Ups :D, you'll download the file it self, not the link.

I would say MEGA's fine but I lost my recovery key for my account coz of a PC break and haven't felt like going back since.
Currently I just use Google Drive and it won't fail you as long as you are aware of the Storage limit and aren't uploading gargantuan files too often.

The ones I use are MEGA, Dropbox, Mediafire, Google Drive, and OneDrive.

But then again, I also archive stuff for the community, so its to be expected

I would say go with MEGA or Google Drive.

For me, MediaFire is the best of them since all uploads don't expire (I got a lot of chars uploaded for databases and also some CBR comics I translated in spanish for an old blog project and all work even when some of then I don't touch since years). In the others, I've some problems:
  • As many of you say, MEGA as limits with downloads. For MUGEN stuff that don't weight too much is a good option, but in cases you've gbs to download (like, anime/series episodes or movies), they have limited range to get everything
  • OneDrive is also a good option, but there you need a MS account (hotmail.com (for elders), live.com or outlook.com) to see the accounts. I got the same problem as many that some hosted stuff by creators don't appear, but after I log in (I got a outlook.com account), I can see them all
  • And about Drive, it's kind of complicated, mostly because it's easy to get your account as private and you can share it with your own Drive account. It's a good option indeed but I don't like it TBH
Apart of Dropbox, another interesting alternatives out there are Rapidgator and Turbobit, but I never tested them, but I know that they could be a good choice AFAIK
