Big news on Ruckus, for anyone interested:

It's going to be a little longer than expected before his release. I've decided to add more color depth and a little more detail to his sprites. They still won't be as good as Capcom or SNK's, but he will not look as flat and maybe people will get off my back about my sprites. He was already done and ready to be released when I decided to do this. I've applied the extra colors to about 20% of his sprites. I estimate it will take another week or two to get them all done, but I think it will be worth it. Here's some gifs, along with the old ones so you can see the difference:

Nice job! I think they look more SNK to me, but that might be because some of ralf's stance is in ruckus which is cool by me.

Thanks man. I'm trying to hush up some of the haters that decided to come out of the woodwork a couple months ago. I will never have the patience to sprite as meticulously as Capcom or SNK, but Ruckus' new sprites look almost as good as any King of Fighters character, if you ask me.

I understand that with the choice of palette, the background, and the size of the sprites it may be hard to see how much of a difference there is, so I uploaded this pic of a sprite by sprite comparison so everyone can an idea of what the new sprites will be like:

I used animations from a ton of different people, but none from him, odd. I can see it though, the way he bounces around and stuff.  :)

The video is a short survival run. It's mostly to show off his moves against mobile opponents to get a feel for how he will play.

Ruckus feels kinda light on his Ramon jump attack. It may just be the video though.
I'm not sure a char like this should have double jump.
"Sweet & Sour" allows the opponent to get up too fast at the end of the move IMO. Also, it lacks some impact and spectacular thing for a Lv3. Doing a tandem attack allows you to do really nice things, such as throwing the opponent on your teammates, him throwing him back at you before a final blow. Needs more hitpause and flash I think.

I'm not sure I know what you mean about him seeming light on his Ramon jump attack. Could you explain further?

Also, "Sweet & Sour" is an actual double team move in Pro Wrestling, and if I changed it around, it wouldn't be Sweet & Sour.Also, this may be a noob thing to ask, but how do I get them to stay down longer afterwards?

Here is my newest SHADEs character, Byrne. Byrne has pyrokinetic abilities, as well as the ability to withstand extremes of hot and cold. His skin is also supernaturally durable, keeping him from suffering burns from his pyrokinetic powers.

As you can see, his sprites have more color and are more detailed than characters before him. Whether this means I will update previous SHADEs characters is unclear right now. I started to sprite him using the traditional SHADEs-style, but after updating Ruckus it was really hard for me to not give him the extra colors and details. So the jury's still out on that.

Anyway, here are some gifs of his basic anims:

(Yeah, kinda boring screens I know, but he's still early)

As mentioned before, he has pyrnokinetic abilities, so he will have many fire-based attacks. I understand that fire isn't really an original super power, but I wanted the creative freedom that comes with a power like that, as well as there being an abundance of nice fire FX available for use out there. Trust me, outside of the projectile he will likely have, I'm trying to come up with some unique attacks for him so he isn't as generic as his powers. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

What's done:

Basic anims (stance, walk, jump, etc.)
Required sprites

I hope you guys like him.

I'd play him 24/7! His design is too cool for words. I wish I could grasp the concept of spriting. How do you guys practice that stuff?
