This is an artwork themed question.
Nothing about Mugen.

Hello,

I made a mistake working on a transparent layer and made it white by merging it with the white background.
I have no backup of the most recent work step.

I'd like to make the white transparent IN the file, not by product-type blending mode.
I'd like the purer the white, the more transparent, and the more color, the more opaque.

Do you have any suggestions?

I'm sure it's possible, but I have no idea.
(once again, the file alone must be transparent (gif, PNG...), not just in photoshop).

Thanks

I know it's been a while, but in case anyone finds this topic:

You can achieve this by copying the image and pasting it on a layer mask, then invert the colors of the layer mask and all the white of the image should be transparent.
If your image had let's say, a cyan glow, you would have to use the red channel to achieve this effect.

I cannot give more advice or post images as I don't have Photoshop anymore, but you can try searching on the internet:
Layer mask, image white to alpha.
