I must say, I liked this character.  So, I put time into his 1st color to reflect his nature.

Ai's is ready to go!

Good news! I've got less than twenty sprites to go before Kaneda's color separation is finished! For those that are submitting palettes for him, get them done quickly if you want them in the public release coming later on!

After I release Kaneda's, I'll work on Xia's since hers is one of the more troublesome ones. I'll also update the first post a little later, when I've got the time to count palettes and stuff.

Kaneda's color separation is finished!

Sadly, some of the palettes submitted for him recently don't have the colors in the correct order, have extra colors, are missing some colors, etc; here are the ones that I want to use but that need to be redone by those that submitted them.

If your palette was made before I posted Tatsuki's, you will not have to fix your own palette at any point since I didn't give warning in the first post about making sure that the color count and all that other stuff matches. Otherwise, it's on you to get it correct. Banxman and Kirishima have their Kaneda palettes perfect, so if you're stuck I would advise asking them for help.

Also, I caught a bug in Ai's color template. I'll correct the two palettes already submitted for her, but the new one is up in the first post now, so everyone else should be able to avoid that problem.

I'll release Kaneda tomorrow. Keep in mind that while I want to get reports about bugs, they will not be fixed in the stand-alone release, but in the Project LENSMAN version of Kaneda.

I darkened the belt and foot guards on the Shin palette and fixed the contrast on the red palette's pants. Also, I included a different version of the red palette with a different skin tone, which looks better to me. Yes, I fixed them as well.

There is something wrong with Kaneda's mouth.

That's the old color separation I had where the bottom of his shirt was mis-colored and the inside of the mouth was a shared color. The new one doesn't have that problem.

In all honesty Dishamonpow should have gone back to the first post and gotten the new one, since I put it up only a few days afterwards. It's perfectly fine on my end, though, I've checked.

Yes, I know that I haven't updated the first post's palette submission numbers. I'm going to get to it, I just need to test the actual palettes out first so that if I need to ask for corrections, I can.

Xia's color separation is going pretty well, but she's got more sprites than Kaneda--the good news is that past a certain point there's a lot of reuse, so I won't even have to do too much extra work once I get that far.

Also, you'll see that I'm running a three-day poll. I had to vote myself to be able to see the results, so subtract 1 vote from the gameplay balances column to get the real numbers. Also, feel free to post about your choice, it's always a help.

'K, that's all I had to say for now.

Finally got these done.




As far as the poll goes, an improvement on gameplay balance and character differences is what I go for.

OK, so the vote thing didn't turn out so well (except for Kirishima and one other person, apparently). I'll reopen it immediately after this post brings the thread back to the front page, and it'll stay open for at least two weeks or so.

Also, if you're going to post your reason for voting, do me a favor and be specific about your choice--in other words, if you vote gameplay balance and character differentiation, explain what feels the same to you and who you think is broken so that I can look over and consider it.
If you vote graphics, specify what you don't like and how you feel it could be changed. Simple, right?

Now, as the thread's new title says, I've put a freeze on Xia's color sep and haven't worked on anyone else's templates. This is because I'm doing NaNoWriMo this month and I've got other responsibilities to handle at the moment. Keep submitting palettes and stuff, yes, but I'm not posting anything new as far as color separation is concerned for a while yet.

I have good news though--I've switched the SFF back to v1 from v2. Why is this good? It means I can fix things a lot faster now with the screenpack instead of having to recompile the SFF all the time.

That said, I must go back to my real-life stuff. See ya around.

Bumping for two major news bits (none of which are palette-related, sorry--NaNoWriMo's going well but still eating most of my time).

1. I've changed the screenpack some more:









Pretty much all of those effects are animated in some way (fade in/out, swoop in from one side or another). I would've done video but I'm still looking for a reliable capture program that's free without strings AND captures at a decent enough rate to not drop frames.

2. I've applied for a sub-forum over in Full Games. If it's approved, I can keep much better track of palette submissions and the like as they come down the line, and hopefully get people to actually POST THEIR THOUGHTS about what's going on with the game, so let's hope for it. If it falls through, well...that's a bridge to cross another time.

I'll be going back to Xia's color separation soon, since I'm getting closer to meeting my word goal for writing. If all goes well, I might say a late December-January release for her, but that's not a promise.
