It ain't dead. Just severely on hold. Thought I'd show the latest. I've started her directional jump, so far, I only got a barebones skeleton down (not shown, and even then I have to redo it because it looks bad). Asura's still at the same spot I left him off at.

By December 19, I'm gonna be back to working on this on weekends. I'll also begin Gene and find a way to finalize Phase 1 for Asura, and get Ryu ready for public testing.


And for another announcement that you'll all love (or two):

After watching a move set comparison between PlayStation All-Stars and MARVEL vs. Capcom 3, the originale style Dante's comin' in instead. The flashiness of DMC Dante lends itself better to what I had in mind for CvSE, as the other one was.... well, boring. I have nothing planned as to how I am gonna go about it, so don't ask. All I'll tell you is that it will not be the same as MvC3. Some new things'll pop up, based on his other appearances.

I'm pondering the idea of seasonal formats, so I can have a reason to put out Capcom characters with existing graphics. I have nothing set in stone.

I'm telling you. Just use whichever style that's available. Just don't clash too much like SNK style with Capcom or something like that. But cvs, sfa, reduced colors and frames sf3; go for it

Late af, but yeah thats what I intend to do.

Its easier said than done though for Square Enix characters, and Capcom characters w/o existing sprites, because I will have to do some graphical work, regardless. But I agree with you, for the record.

Well yeah, most of your squeenix characters and some Capcom will have to be made from scratch. I just didn't want you wasting time converting cvs chars to sfa style and such.

AFAIK, only two chars in the roster are in that style, Hinata Wakaba, and Ingrid. Rest of the Capcom crew are in the CPS2 style (both existing, and some I found, like Lou/Siva and Nestor's Viewtiful Joe). They (Hinata/Ingrid) will remain in that style until I can find someone to maybe help me with them. Or maybe I'll keep them that way until I really feel like doing the conversion, which is no time soon.

Hell and Heaven was the only thing I really took out of Ehrgeiz myself, didn't think of using a lot of the stuff in there for normals or throws. Probably should've, but I didn't do any of the normals or throws for movesets. ^^;

As for combos, it won't be entirely similar to Ehrgeiz (will also take cues), but she's going to be the Kyo Kusanagi of the SE cast. I'm hoping that her combos will have a similar feel to Kyo in the C-Groove.

For throws, they'll be original. The punch throw will have her go behind the opponent and elbow him, before giving him/her a judo throw of sorts. The kick throw will have her do a sort of 3 kick combo, that ends with the opponent flying backwards.

I suggest looking at dissidia for some references for attacks as well, since it's a arena fighting game it shouldn't be tough to imagine some moves on the 2d plane

Yeah, that's where a lot of her moves came from is Dissidia. If I ever get around to it, I might be doing videos for those trying to do it on a 2D plane of sorts. Not gonna be easy probably to showcase a lot of things though but...

Alright, back to the production wagon:

So Tifa's Phase 1 is nearly complete, and the same goes to Asura. For the former, after finishing the backwards dash and directional jump, only her roll animation will be needed for her to have her required movement sprites. For the latter, his backwards walk, jump (one jump for all directions, like Urien), dashes and roll are needed before I temporarily close the curtains on him.

I've picked up a few tricks while I wasn't working on this, so hopefully, I can work a bit faster (for reference, it would take a day to make a full rough animation, it took me an hour here for all three, barring the fact that I had a two frame headstart on Asura's walk forward).

You are very talented, im super excited to see tifa and asura in mugen. I can only imagine what an undertaking this whole project is. But i love to see it come together

I suggest you work on get hits and the fallings in Tifa's Phase 2. Believe me, it is better to do them at the start than at the end. ;)

About Tifa's jump, you should fix her hair in her backward jump.
