So, let's say if Tommy made and released a BB char. that gives a not-too-bad source game feeling but most FX's are ignored then it is still acceptable by all you MUGEN pros????

Now I need a Pro to define the "not-too-bad source game feeling" for BB chars.............
He could have SF2 hitsparks that I wouldn't care, as long as he plays GOOD. Nobody in this topic talked about graphics, some things are graphically impossible in Mugen, sure, but the main focus of Vans post was the impossibility to recreate some very important and key features of the game in Mugen, because of various limitations.

I'm going to vouch for these "pros" here and say it's pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to replicate using MUGEN.

EDIT: whoops just read cybaster's post and it's pretty much my post but better. OH WELL

I'm still a bit shaky in what exactly can't be replicated.

Play as Litchi.  That's pretty much all you need to explain it to you.

After looking at a video...
It looks like some of that stuff could be done with a lot of helpers and a lot or different animations.
I'm too new a coder to try anything that ambitious the staff alone would be a real challenge to elite coders.

You're not supposed to watch a video. Play the game if you want to understand what everyone's talking about.

I'm almost 100% sure that Litchi is totally impossible to faithfully recreate in Mugen.

It can be worked in Mugen, just not in a convenient manner.  if you got it to work it would likely be really faulty and not accurate.

I tried to play BB on my 360 but the controller doesn't work well with 2D fighters so I cannot say much about mechanics, I read that the characters would not be balanced when it comes to game mechanics but all I can say is fuck that, I like what some people do while converting characters with non-common gameplay mechanics (3 buttons, air dashes, etc.). Sometimes it is better not to stick to the original source and make custom character concentrating on capcom or snk-like mechanics so the characters would be more balanced. I love what rajaa is doing in his characters (even though I don't approve all the system stuff he implements but this is mugen and you can always edit some things to have them your way). In my opinion the overall balance and fairness of the character is more important than the being as close to the source as possible.

I think that's the main point of this thread. The actual BB chars for MUGEN plays like shit and the only things they have accurate to this game are their sprites (I saw videos of Hakumen and Tager, and I LOL'd), that's just wrong and still don't know why you keep publishing and posting in those topics. As some chars from other games for MUGEN, I think it's possible to make good BB chars, but should be custom and adapted to MUGEN standards. I mean, the same moves, specials and supers from the characters, but with MUGEN mechanics and some other from BB adapted to MUGEN.

I'm almost 100% sure that Litchi is totally impossible to faithfully recreate in Mugen.
I doubt that. Seeing her I got a similar character that could be good emulated for MUGEN: Rosemary from Asura Blade/Buster. She manages a sword that can make stuff by itself, similar than Litchi's bo. And Juke Kisaragi made a great work emulated her to MUGEN

I remember the first Testament for mugen.  It was crude and used a Kliff sword spirit instead of a raven, but it was fun(ny)

I  am thinking about adding this of your sentences to my 2nd MUGEN motto besides Cybaster's "Pleasing other people is nice, but when creating for Mugen, you're supposed to please yourself first;D
