Not about the vid being redubbed, I know that.

Just a General Point

It kind of weirds me out though.

I dunno. I've always kind of looked at our community with an odd eye. Seeing that "warring factions" could even arise over something like this, and bring about such deep hate toward one another just bugged me, but, again, I'm just one person.  :-\

Mugen is a fun game, but it's a game. Why have we become obsessed over this thing ??? It's just no longer fun but now the only sense of importane people find for themselves. Whether its a creator, "You can't do so and so because this is mine." Valid, yes, but grossly unrealistic (I myself follow, but at the same time I really don't care). General Users... I want every char. maybe if i'm nice to so and so, they'll give me so and so Private Char... what ???

Three things I've noticed in Mugen.

One:
The vast majority of creators, create to impress.
If this were not true there would be no such thing as a label of good or else terrible creation. There would be no such thing as a rant. there would be no such thing as bashing / scrutiny. There would be no such thing as a Mugen Discussion, Help, etc.

Two: Very Important
Creators hold a "superior rank" and yet see themselves being manipulated every damn day
Through popular demands, that even I am guilty of exploiting, we general users suggest what should appear in/be put into a character, so the creator can please us. We don't have to know how to create, as long as some other person/pigeon can complete the task for us, based on our wishes.
We don't have to do shit except download and keep telling the creator how good they are, exploiting what moreso subconsciously we percieve to be what they thrive off of, their need to feel important/superior/favored.
The familiar question always arises, that almost everyone who has done something in the community has seen:
Can you create so and so char, or can you create so and so addition to so and so char.
Some who ask this, or questions like it, may not know what they are doing to further the exploitation process/game, but yet, THE CONCRETE FACT IS, that whether or not the action is intentional or not, it is still being done.
To be a creator is almost to succumb. The need to feel important, to feel that you are doing something well, is exactly what allows other users to bend you to their will, and much more, you either notice and ignore it, or else never realize it at all.
Every Time I hear the time periods that creators/contributors give to their craft, it sickens me:
3 weeks, 2 months, over a year.
WTF - this in itself should say that there is unhealthiness lying behind the situiation.
We find the nerve to constantly attack SFO fans and call them idiots, and yet we're the ones who wind up wasting our lives for the sake of some superficial GAMING ENGINE.

Three:
Question - On what levels do we have the right to get mad?
To know that the people who argue over the system, didn't necessarily program it themselves is, yes, a funny thing to look at (including myself).
No offense to anyone, you have my respect; but to see a ranking system kind of just didn't fit my "OPINION". Again no offense to teh administrators.
I do not know, but I would have to say that first of all, we need to get over ourselves most of teh time. A lot of what we get mad at, i.e. modifications of our charcters, isn't all that much of a big deal, and in most situations cannot be stopped, for better or worse... beat me  :S.
Are we looking at ourselves. We form rants all over the place, and most of us had nothing to do with the engine's creation. I don't know but it just sounds like kind of a waste. We have been swallowed up by something that, :omg: ISN"T OURS, and yet find justifications for reaching the peak of our anger over it  ???.
Seems kind of pathetic to me.
Come on people, it's not ALL important  :-\

I dunno, it just seems like we've all become consumed by this little thing that is in no way importaNt to our survival.  Might look good to some overly biased person on a resume, but really won't help in the REAL, real world.

Of course it won't help in the real world. But mugen is fun to play because you know it's a crossover of any character stage etc. It's loads of fun adding more and more to mugen.Sad truth is I think there' no such thing as I have every character I want because ppl is going to get bored and will want more and more stuff added into their game. That's why I don't play it everyday so that way it won't get boring as fast plus I'm usually playing it with my friends and we try out each other's characters & such just for the heck of it.So for me I'm not bored with it but I will be someday. We all will it's just a matter of time.

So the point is we're all being consumed by something that isn't technically ours and it won't do much good in the real world.

We're All:
The point I was trying to get across was to the creators mainly. General Users are far more prone to boredom, which I believe leads to their quitting earlier. Creators on the Other hands are staying in and doing exactly that, creating, spending ridiculous amounts of time on the process of creating a char, while being manipulated by General Users (more likely subconsciously/unintentionally) explained in more detail in point 2:

http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=62688.msg524305#msg524305

and it won't do much good in the real world:
That was actually more of a secondary point. I didn't mean for anyone to heavily focus on that because it is a given. I jus meant to reinforce the point to show the ridiculous nature of how mant of us, act around the engine.

agreed, Ive been on the net for almost 10 years and the Mugen community by far is the complete opposite of every other community (games, music, general stuff...etc.) on the strength of "wanting a character" to the point of harassment. I've been into Mugen for almost a year now, and 95% of characters I have I found on my own, through backlinks, archives and the like. The other 5% were requests... and thats only when I was a "noob" and didn't look for myself. Elecbyte's not coming back, the Guild is now a warehouse... who would have thought so much drama could come from abandonware (that's basically a hack of a beta)

it's madness, but that's just how I feel :-\

Imagine a zanguief runing to attack ryu, ryu does a quick+kind of weak fast punch and hit the chest of zanguief, will this punch be enough to zanguief say/think \"oh no, this punch hurted a little, I better stop the attack and put my hand on my chest to help contain the pain while ignoring if ryu is going to make other attacks now"
