ppl tend to like 98 more because of the SDM coming out with just one button :P
More like, because every move has a SDM version, that rocked back in the day.
Now we're limited to one (most of the times sucky) LDM per team.

Also, autocombos do tons of chipping damage (they connect even if guarded) and you can actually kill opponents with the guard CD attack that uses a stock.

(also the max activation bar was still active even after doing a super)
Lies.
That's '97.

and IIRC and IINM while the bar was activated the damage of special moves or/and the entire hits were increased...didn't play 98 for a while so...

you can't mixup a blind man, and you can't out think a brick ~skisonic
Street fighting is all about analysis, prediction, and reaction. That's it.

Something else I don't particularly like about XI is that when the enemy's HP goes below 40% (?), you do .75 amount of damage you would normally NOT COUNTING the scaling that is used for combos. Once the enemy's HP goes below somewhere around 15-20%, you do half the damage you would normally do once again not yet counting the scaling that is used for combos. The scaling now is also more strict (DMs/LDMs always do less damage when used in combos), though some LDMs seems to do a lot of damage either way.

Yes, the scaling suck a lot, making some Dream Cancels pretty useless (Dream cancelling Eiji's Zantetsutoro-ken to his LDM equals PATHETIC DAMAGE)

It's almost as bad as the '98 HUMONGOUS MAX mode damage with regular attacks.

Someone wrote that the damage at that end of the bar isn't actually scaled. You're doing the same amount of damage. Just with say 1000 health on the bar, the first 75% of the sprite is in fact only 300hp worth and the last 25% is the other 700, go figure.

Is scaled during combos though.

In M.U.G.E.N there is no magic button

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

afaik, in combos individual hits get scaled, so attacks that depend on multiple hits tend to be less afected by scaling than attack that do one or two hits.
