Re: Dragon Ball SvK inspired thread

Some of this was probably already said, but whatever.

GOKU :
- Needs a readme. How are we supposed to know how to play him if nothing is here to explain it.
- No jump sound nor landing sound.
- No landing effect.
- Super jump sound is completely wrong.
- Taunt doesn't really make any sense.
- The clipboard says the char is by POTS.
- Teleport (X+A) needs some effect to show the teleportation.
- Teleporting back by holding the Back command would be nice too.
- Why can I throw with F+A+X ? It's either A+X, either 2P/2K, not both.
- Throw is missing a throwing sound when he throws P2 far away.
- A throw miss animation would be nice (as well as a missing voice sound).
- dp+P is missing a jump sound and a woosh sound during the kick.
- Kiblast2 and kouhou commands are missing negative edge.
- All 3 versions of dp+P have the same vels. What's the point of using anything else than the strong version then ?
- dp+P deals less damage than s.SP. You kidding me !?
- Why isn't dp+P a kick move (with dp+K as command) ?
- qcf+P is an infinite on its own. You need to add a limiter so the 2nd occurence (or 3rd) whiffs.
- When Ki Blast hits, there's a shadow on the FX.
- Why do all versions of Ki Blast have same vels/damage/etc. All 3 should be different. It's just a Hadouken.
- Kamehameha causes debug flood.
- warp and rush kamehameha don't work (from the CMD, since you didn't put any readme).
- I can chain Kaioken into itself, as P2 bounces on the wall. Chaining Kaioken > Kamehameha is fine, but not the same super into itself.
- No Kaioken voice ?
- Genkidama is not centered on top of Goku's hands.
- During Genkidama startup, there's a cruel lack of sounds to build up intensity, as well as envshake.
- Why does Genkidama cover Goku ? Shouldn't it explod up his face LOL ?
- Why is there an explosion sound playing just before Goku throws the Genkidama ?
- Genkidama disappears for a tick or two just before Goku throws it.
- Genkidama is missing a throwing and advancing sound.
- Why does P2 fall on the ground even when blocking Genkidama ? Looks wrong for a move that deals 5 damage when blocked (also, why only 5 damage ?)

The basic layout is there, but it really needs a lot of work to be considered solid. Not a bad creation since it's your first though, so it's nice to see you have the potential to learn quickly and fix everything. Good luck !

- Some sprites have palette problems. Use Evil Ryu palette and perform s.SP, and look at his belt.
- Shun Goku Satsu is missing a noFG assertspecial.
- His finisher super portrait shoud be aligned on the screen. Tested in 640*480 and when the screen flashes white, you can see the borders.
- Super hurricane kick's tornado FX is cropped at the top. Dunno if it would be editable to avoid this.

Wait what ? No.

Having a coder and palettes doesn't mean the spriting is finished. It just means spriting is advanced enough to warrant a coder to put the sprites in motion. Also, seeing the animations in-game and being able to play with the char usually motivates the spriter to continue his spriting.

This looks so gorgeous ! 8)

Is he going to be 1.0 or 1.1 ?
If he needs to be 1.1 because of the effects, will you make a 1.0 version too, with indexed effects ?

Exploding Kittens was the most backed up game on KickStarter ever. 8 782 571 $ received when he was asking for 10 000 $ only. how crazy is that LOL !?

You can pre order yours here if you're interested :

About the "Fleurs du Mal" book, I wouldn't really recommend it if French is "only" a minor for you. You probably won't understand anything. :P
You wouldn't buy an illustrated book of Shakespare's work if you had a minor in English, would you ?

Yeah, that's some typical casting stuff : applying operations on integers will only give back integers.

Because I don't buy "only" clothes.

Just received Exploding Kittens card game by the Oatmeal :

And a type of book I usually don't buy : an artbook with 29 poems from "Les Fleurs du Mal" by Charles Baudelaire, each one illustrated by Italian artist Liberatore, part of them on double pages :

Makers.

Palettes, Chars, Spriters, Coders, Stage Creators, etcetera.

EDIT: For being Contributor, you don't need exactly to be all of these parameters. If you are contributing with anything for good in this community forum, you will turn one.
Actually, you don't even need to be a "maker". I got mine by giving a lot of feedback in the release section, long before even touching a SFF or a CNS file.

This version is probably so shitty and incomplete compared to what Kamekaze and you will deliver that it's not even worth talking about it, yet remember it. ::)

Anyway, the new animations are looking fabulous, as usual. :)

Ant-man (2015)
As said already, a usual Marvel movie, but with some things which could have been much better.
Grade : 6.5/10

Inside Out (2015)
With this great animated movie for adults, Pixar shows how 5 personified emotions in the head of a your teenager lead her through her life. Lots of laughs, emotions, sadness. It's now a fact, emotions have emotions !
Grade : 9/10

Casablanca (1942)
Probably the most famous Humphrey Bogart movie, and one of the greatest classics of all time. Great acting, great realisation, beautiful images, nice pacing. No wonder it's a classic.
Grade : 9/10

Bettlejuice (1988)
A classic fantasy comedy movie by Tim Burton, with cheap yet awesome effects. Now, I want to go watch the animated televisions series again LOL.
Grade : 7.5/10

These hitboxes look as bad (albeit different) as those from SF3. Good job Capcom LOL !

Now, it's Just No Point's duty to remake all his spritepacks into accurate standardized SFF and AIR for direct use in Mugen. :P

If you ever need hosting for your super awesome stuff, I'm sure @Iced: can offer you a spot at MugenGuild. ;)

That being said, you once again delivered an amazing stage. Animated parallax with 3D effect, as well as the transparent reflection on the ground to go with it. OMG you're crazy, in an awesome way !!! ^_^

I'm not a spriter, so I have no idea how reasonable/difficult each role is compared to the other (it may depend on the sprite style too, as KOF style sounds different in terms of applicable workflow).

Anyway, this sounds like a nice idea, and I hope it succeeds, so we can see some good spriters team up and get some awesome work done together ! Good luck ! :)
