This tread talks about Joysticks anything about learning how use it, news or show off your joystick art and mods!

I'm using pads for long time but I have got the hand of it. I have a Real Arcade Pro 3 now and practice that are best suited for joysticks like fighting games and arcade games! It was hard at first but once you found your grip to the stick its pretty easy it's like riding a bike!

I also started with pad really, but then learned to play on some cruddy Hrap stuff at my college, then was forced to utilize the abomination known as the Shadow blade for a few years until I finally bought a TE, and had a friend dual mod it so it'll work on Ps3, 360 and PC. I'm not preferential to either Sanwa or Seimitsu, and I don't even like playing Marvel on American sticks. I'll be the first jap stick marvel player ever. XD

I have many names,
Chrisis X is my current sig :P

I got used to playing on the controller...a long long time...mostly due to playing arcade ports of games. So yeah, I kinda stink at joysticks unless they're a shump game like Strikers. For fighters, I stick to D-padding.

I made this sig. :ninja:

Props to a friend for my avvie

Elix

I bought a Mayflash Arcade Stick for PC/PS3 and now it's lying in the dark corner accumulating dust. I tried playing with it, really. Maybe the joystick is of poor quality but it's awfully hard to play on it. I think I'll never get off my Razer Tarantula keyboard (which supports 10 simultaneous presses).

I modded my HRAP3 with Sanwa buttons, and an 8-way restrictor for the joystick.  Its the only way I can play fighting games now. Pads are for scrubs. :P

TempesT

* TempesT remembers playing Hoshi at Street Fighter with her controller.

I have a modded TE stick that was given to me for my birthday... except one of the wires is crossed with another so the movement is kind of screwy, I just play with my pad really...

i feel dirty when i say pad
you can't mixup a blind man, and you can't out think a brick ~skisonic
Street fighting is all about analysis, prediction, and reaction. That's it.

Cybaster

I knew Tempest would jump in sooner or later in this topic about joy sticks !

I guess I'm a scrub.
Heck, I won the Kof2k2 tournament with an XBOX360 pad (Dunno how, the pad is god-awful. The PS2/3 pad is actually good)

Only issue I have with PS2 controllers in SF is that I can't throw well. I got used to having my lights on the L1 and R1 triggers. It's tough to push both at the same time for me.

I wish I could get used to a joystick, but I would have to basically start over with fighters again. I have the SF2 Arcade Stick for PS2. That's the only one I've ever had. I can't even do QCF motions well with it. Or walk without jumping XD

I just need to play around with my stick a lot more I guess  :wink3:

Cloudius

For Street Fighter 3s, I use Ps2 pad.

For Street Fighter IV, I use SE stick most of the time (which is modded with Sanwa), My execution with Gen's Combo is not the best on a TE.

When SFIV got released, I started playing on a Happ Stick used in MVC2. Times has passed and I have adopted to square gate. After trying a Octo gate after all this time, feel down right weird.

Cybaster

I don't understand how you guys can play SF/KOF with PS2/X-Box pads, which are moreover 4 button pads ...
Heck, I can barely do a QCF on these pads ! :gonk:
I can't play for shit unless I have a 6 button Genesis style pad.

JustNoPoint

That's what I use now on PS3 is a Sega Saturn controller. One day I'll buy that expensive bastard for PS2 >:-(

TempesT

EW no wonder you cant do movements! DualShock 3 is good enuff 4 me!

Works just fine in BlazeBlue, KOF, Battle Fantasia >:-(

I can't do the moves in SF4 with the PS2 or PS3 controller when needed either. And I can't throw or jab spam which is my only choice after my move fails =p

RandomFan01

God damn it, I hate these fucking Logitech controllers, ya know, the ones with the square holes for the analog sticks instead of circles? Just about impossible to Half Circle. Why did I buy this again and why didn't I just stick to the Xbox controller? Oh, that's right, the trigger buttons are technically axis buttons and can't be mapped on Mugen or most games even. The sooner I get a Arcade Joystick the happier I'll be.

rednavi -RETIRED

I have 2 generic USB controllers (PS2 style) and I never got a single game to recognize all the degrees on the analogs, they are recognized as analog but work like an 8 direction pad (but with the analogs).

...

bullshit!

iTorres

I got my TE stick today so now I gotta practice and get used to it since I'm used to the pad.
