The developer behind the new Mortal Kombat game has told CVG that a MK versus Street Fighter game is "inevitable".

But before you start openly salivating at the prospect of this ultimate dream ticket, steady on - there are a couple of conditions before it can happen.

NetherRealm producer Hector Sanchez told us that the creation of a MK vs SF game "depends on the success of Street Fighter X Tekken".


Speaking to GamesMaster's roving reporter Rory Smith at Gamescom, Sanchez also revealed that the idea of a Mortal Kombat-Street Fighter team-up is not entirely new - and that MK series creator Ed Boon originally pitched it over ten years ago.

Still, even with Street Fighter X Tekken looking like a certain winner, there are still obstacles to overcome if a Mortal Kombat v Street Fighter bout is going to become a contender.

"Obviously there are problems with that," Sanchez added. "I'm not sure Capcom would be happy with Scorpion ripping Ken's head off."

Why not make it a Mortal Kombat vs Darkstalkers if Capcom isn't too happy with Scorpion ripping Ken's head off?

I dont think it would fit ,sf2 is cartoony ,the same is with tekken or snk fighters.
I dont see it.But maybe mk in sf world,that could work.No fatalities.

Back in the arcades when Street Fighter II's only competitor (if you can even call it that) was Mortal Kombat, and stuff like MVC and XMvsSF were out, people were almost expecting a SFvsMK.

And they should call it SFvsMK just because.
And why didn't they go all out and make a Midway vs Capcom?
And Capcom better be the head honcho developing this if it ends up happening.
Because we all know how good Fighting Games can be when Capcom develops them.

Yep, that right is reserved for Sub Zero, lol.  I don't remember ANYONE else who actually ripped a head off.  Cut, sliced and diced....and uppercutted, yes, but only one true "ripper." 
Anyway, yeah, I don't see this crap working at all.

Back then a MK vs SF would have looked too weird..with painted characters on one side and digitized actors on the other.  But today the MK characters look more similar ..i mean..the difference isnt that big anymore.
