Rurouni Kenshin Saisen - Enishi Appears (Finally!!)

The December issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine is announcing on Thursday that Nobuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin samurai manga is inspiring a 2D fighting game for the Sony  PSP portable console in Japan next spring!! The game is titled Rurouni Kenshin: Saisen. The manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999, and Viz Media published the manga in North America.

Update: The full title of the Bandai Namco Games' release is Rurouni Kenshin, Meiji Kenkaku Romantan Saisen. It is the first new Rurouni Kenshin game in five years. Source: Comic Natalie

I'm kinda disapointed by these images.
Doing cell-shading is a good idea really (à la DBZ), but the outlines are too thick IMO, and the models too angular (well, I know it's a PSP game, but still).
The super portraits look very average. Aoshi, in the last pic, just looks horrible, like he was vectorized by an amateur ...

Well, now, to see it in motion and, of course, the actual gameplay.

Me too. When I read "2D", I thought about graphics like Street Fighter or KOF. I even thought about the possibility of ripping the sprites, but with this type of modeling ... No way.

I see a lot of negativity. Let's wait the final result.
We are based only on the graphics, I admit, are disappointing, but if the gameplay, stages and soundtrack are good, it will be something hmm ... "balanced".

Okay, doesn't look so bad.

Animated, the graphics are more or less fine. Let's say they made it like Ookami or something like that.
I'm very happy they put all the characters from the whole storyline in there, not doing like Naruto or DBZ games where they do 10 sequels just ot add a few chars each time.

There is still some disbelief. Ok, I probably still have hope because I am a big fan of the series, and the video is interesting. Moreover, the amount of characters seems to be good. The release will be in March.
