loading issue >.>

hi everyone,
i have been away from mugen for a couple of months (maybe more actually...) and as i wanted to work back on stuff and test some new characters/stages, i clicked on my winmugen (M.U.G.E.N ver 2002.04.14) shortcut to launch the Alphastorm screenpack (i had been using for a long time without any problems)... this is the shit i get:



so at first, judging by the "error finding characters/stages in data/alphastorm/select_normal.def" message:
- i guessed it was that maybe a name wasn't spelled right in the select.def and in the chars folder...so i took a hummongus amount of time to check EVERY characters name (500+ >.>)
- i made sure i had one stage only written in the select.def in the Stages folder...
- i checked all the paths in the system def too...
- i also tried removing all the characters once (leaving only one that i know works/worked fine, like a POTS character)

but i still can't troubleshoot the problem here: i still get the same error message!!! 

any ideas??  i guess once a noob, noob forever
