j.HK, c.HK, j.HK, c.HK repeat!

not only works really good but in every game. that remind me when  i say some guy Finnish kof 98 only whit iori and that strategy

No if he made it to the top with jab and roundhouse and you couldn't use anything to outprioritise him or counter it, you're not really as good as you think you are. There is sticking to a strategy and adaptation, raging man could not adapt.
Exactly my point. You know that when I tried to talk to the "loser" he argued he was rantig just for laughs, but for me that is just an hypocritical way to hide frustration.

i heard daigo listens to Push it to the Limit by Paul Engemann while he plays and that jwong really fancies Cody now. so i put the song on repeat and started using cody, but i'm still losing. can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

You're using Jwong's new main.

I've been thinking this one over for a while, and since I've been on both sides of the fence (Brawl+Kirby+Fan=rage), I've pretty much come to the conclusion that pretty much everyone else has--if I'm playing with my friends, there are just some things I personally avoid doing when I know it'll just piss everybody off and be a general downer.

When I play "competitively" (and I say that loosely because I have never really gotten into a fighting game on that level, ever), I throw that out the window and do whatever I can to win.

If there's a tactic that every character has a way to deal with, one way or another, then it's not really cheap to use it--the person you're fighting either figures out how to stop it or they deal with losing.

The only bad play that bothers me is spamming, if the other dude doesnt know when to stop shooting sure you kick his ass but past a decent amount of practice (or player points heh) they are usually good at it (and cowardcopter if it gets sticky in ssfiv) and i do get pissed when i lose to that but when im back im my senses i admit its cuz i suck at playing spammers.

Banning something even among buddies is crap, id rather get better and beat them than crying NOT FAIR, YOUR SEIYA HAS METAL PARTS!! BOO HOO!! lol memories

I've had 2 rules applied while playing fighting games

Rule 1: In tekken 3 when knocked down you deal 1 lot of damage then let them up. It was kinda unspoken but everyone in the group did it so it was OK
rule 2: when playing kof 2002 vs 1 person choi is banned for being too easy to win with and too annoying to fight.

Strangely athena didn't get that, course we tended to fuck round with her. If you random choi he's put first and then we race to build our power bars.

Play to win. Especially when there's an actual prize involved. Doesn't matter how "lame" or "cheap" someone plays, if they won, you lost. /thread

I kind of agree with this, but except I personally think that the whole "playing to win no matter how you do it" mindset should pretty much ONLY be when an actual prize is involved.

Make no mistake, if you aren't playing in an actual tournament or for a prize..then it is just for fun. The only other exception in which it is tolerable to play like a total douchebag would be for shits and giggles, and/or to purposely annoy friends.

I really don't see how anyone can have fun playing that way unless they have something to gain from it.

Playing to take the piss while still winning is amusing. One of my favourites is play as athena and ONLY using reflect shield. People don't quite get it so it's good for a round and a half before you lose.

Or the method of using 2k2 seth. Evade>throw>evade>throw.

my troll ralf is just use the C button. that bring a point to the table, just because someone it apparently playing "bad" that does not mean he is not putting tought/that does not require skill, in teh case of ralf's C game, it depends a lot on timing and distance to maximize it's effects, as his C attacks are very effective at the apropiate range, completely sealing p2's movements.

It's the challenge of playing a game at your best, plus fighting games are competitive pretty much always unless you set up weird rules that no one really follows unless you play friends that aren't very good to begin with IRL, no one would enjoy FPSes if all they did was get sniped and blown up all day, unless you're some sort of masochist.

Street fighting is all about analysis, prediction, and reaction. That's it.

Nobody likes a camperfag or sniperfag just like nobody likes a turtle or a guy who uses nothing but pokes.

That's a different comparison than what I was actually trying to say. If you lose to pokes; improve your footsies, if you lose to turtles; improve your blockstrings, frametraps, tick throws and overall pressure.

Camping is completely unavoidable by strictly training for the situation, only an anti-camping feature or luck or a teammate killing them really frees you from it, in fighting games, those downsides are completely on the player to improve.

The correct term for that is tourneyfags, right?

TempesT

Although most people here blow the emergency whistle whenever I use this word, tourneyfag really is just a scrub word, there also isn't just two types of players (SRS TOURNEYFAGS and lolcasuals). People should never consider someone who is remotely good at a fighting game and puts even a little effort into their gameplay a "tourneyfag", everyone who doesn't is just lazy really.

I'm not saying that people who takes games seriously are tourneyfags, nor that article (at least the way I interpreted it).
I was referring to the way some people introduce artificial rules to games and get mad hen people don't follow it.

Like the last tournament I attended: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REMAP BUTTONS!!!! PUNCHx3 IS CHEAAAAAAAT!
Fuck them, I played on stick so no need to remap. (even with that, people said I was cheating because playing witha  stick gives me advantage).

Yeah, even though I can honestly say that there are in fact "Tourneyfag" and "lolcasual" players out there, that doesn't mean that there isn't a big ass gray area of players as well. For example, when I play with friends or just in general, I do try hard to win. But that doesn't mean that I have that whole "Win no matter what" mindset. I'll try to win using tactics that aren't shitty or frowned upon. Basically what the average person would consider winning "fairly". I try and keep that balance of playing to win while also having fun and not being a douche.

Unless..once again, pissing off the other player is my intention.  ;P
