you have to edit the sprites. In multiple animations progressively cut off the tip on the sword to the middle and code it's
position so it looks like it's going into the ground.

No, when they jump then stick their sword in the floor play as Toon link in brawl you'll see what i mean.

Look, I'm going off what little I remember from the tutorial I read ages ago, but I'm pretty sure I have your answer. First let me explain to the other users a little more than "play as Toon Link".

What mahboy wants is an attack (probably aerial) that would end with a sword lodged in the ground causing a delay when the character removes the sword. That leaves you vulnerable if you miss.

Since I've never actually created a character, this is all theory, but the first step is to create the actual attack. You branch it based upon whether you hit the enemy or not. If not, when you hit the ground you are put into a new stance with the sword stuck where you either pull it from the ground or are attacked either of which should return you to idle. Um... wish I could actually show some code, but I haven't looked over the coding process in ages... Still if the others understand what I think you want better, maybe they can give you the specifics.

You need the sprites, and you need a landing state with an animation containing said sprites. This is not hard at all.

Let me just put in Brawl...oh wait, I don't have a Wii.
Perhaps you should explain the move.

At 0:46 is the attack im going for. when toon link misses his enemy then his sword will stick in the ground

Riptide

He's always had that move.

Listen to what people are saying you need to make a sprite like the one you see above with th sword going into the ground first. Once you have the sprites you can start coding it.

do you have the sprites because if so you you can start asking about how to code the attack.

Formerly Hoshi

From what I can tell, it would be similar to coding a missed throw with a different animation.

Riptide

it's the same stab down attack link has alway had. best example is in soul caliber 2

That doesn't mean everyone knows what the bloody thing looks like.

Is still the right answer. The other half is of course

Try it first You can't say our advice is bad until you try it out and find out if it's bad or not.

I have the sprites, i wanna know how to code the attack

Riptide

make those sprites apart of the attack when he is falling down. Do something like this

changeanim
trigger1= whatever
anim=ifelse(pos x<=-5, stabling animation into ground number, some other animation number)

after that animation plays out change it to his standing state.

Maybe just do it with the landing sprites, he doesn't leave it in the floor.

Something like Toon Link's down special from brawl.

Ok I have an idea of what you mean,
the good news is, I can try and help you,
The bad news is, IDK how! XD

Cyanide

He isn't going to learn anything if we simply post how to code the move.

What he needs to do is attempt, and probably fail, to code it on his own. He can then ASK for how to fix what he has. A nebulous "how do i" followed by no apparent attempt to explain or even create it himself is the wrong way to learn.

Even if he learns by video or example better, the best example is one you've written yourself. Even if it doesn't work, that doesn't mean it's wrong and we'll have something to work off.

Giving someone code is the best way to make things worse for them.
