Hello, Ive just recently gotten back into mugen from a 3 or so year hiatus (hate that word) and i love all the new characters ive seen created in that time but Mugen 1.0 perplexes me. Ive done the research and understand the just of it. I just have a few questions if anyone can help me. My only screenpack for winmugen was Mugen Fighting Jam. I loved the colors on the 1000+ select screen but I cant get it to work on mugen 1.0 (yes ive done everything electbyte published in doing to a screenpack. If someone could show me or even patch it and send me it that would be great. Yes ive seen the 1.0 mugen fighting jam pack, its not the same as its mising the largest select screen. If it' not possible ill live without my favorite screenpack. Second, how well do old characters work with 1.0 generally? Lastly are 1.0 characters nackwards compatible with winmugen or +? Thanks for your time. I'll get to releasing my characters here from now on.

-I'm not sure about converting screenpacks to 1.0 so i cant answer that one.

-Most winmugen characters work perfectly fine on 1.0 unless they were coded really poorly

-1.0 characters work for 1.0 only.

To the first thing, it's very possible. I posted a YouTube Vid about me converting MFJ to 1.0.

To the other two accounts, those are true statements.

What i ment about the first one is i dont know much about converting them thats why i cant answer it.

TheShinHado

Ahh. Ok. Sorry about that, just trying to do my part to help.

You guys are awesome. So can you either send me the linky to the youtube video or (preferably) send me a patched mugen 1.0 with the biggest select screen version of Mugen Fighting Jam? (would be amazingly grateful) Two more questions and both benefit the forum. The characters I create are mainly from anime or video games like it (Kingdom Hearts Characters and some Originals) in a chibi nature. Most characters I see are full size mvc, svc, snk, street fighter-ish characters. Are my chibi characters looked upon as lame or appreciated on these forums? Also, from now on, what is the best way to start from? IE default template, edit KFM (has he even been converted?) or is there a new template available? Still adjusting to ultimate fighter factory (and this new FF3???) i remember learning to code on FF Vanilla.

TheShinHado

For the YouTube Vid: I'm redoing the tutorial for several reasons.

As for the two questions: Those are out of my league. Some one will answer them for you.

jointhemasters

but is it available to watch? I have a pretty deep understanding of mugen.

TheShinHado

Yes. Here's the link(s) [Two Parts]

Although I say Rc8, the same rule applies to 1.0.

Freakin. Love. You. All i was forgetting to put in the file was the .batch (noobie mistake). If you ever need help with that remake, I wouldnt mind. Ive got film equipment, a registered fraps and a great mic on my custom gaming computer. Getting back into Mugen alone gave me the motivation to order the rest of the parts for my custom arcade stick.  (works on xbox, 360, ps1-3, pc, gc, dreamcast, and snes).

characters, that's my league, if you use line breakers like this
so i can read your post a bit better i can help you :]
but from what i deciphered Its truthfully up to you how you do your characters
I mean you can sprite swap with kung fu man if you want to but thats just to get all of the basics down with your character. Most people enjoy scratch made characters but thats a super pain in the ass to do. So its all personal preference.  And chibis are gladly accepted here hell there was a high res chibi sasuke from naurto released here and he was accepted!

jointhemasters

Alrighty. Chibi is just the way i like to create.
My most notable being the best working Jack Skellington which got about 1000 downloads or so.
(and I only had 11 sprites to work with!!!!!)
I'm going to have to learn to recode (because i forgot everything in 3 years)
So any notable changes in FF3 compared to FF or Ultimate FF?
I'm barely used to UFF and am most comfortable in FF starting from the default template.
But as a tech geek I must evolve as the world around me does.

xcheatdeath

Well FF3 hasn't been publicly released yet so i cannot answer any questions about that.
I dont really ever use UFF I tend to use the original FF my self.
So pretty much once again untill they publicly release FF3 its which ever you personally wanna use :]

jointhemasters

So coding on ff vanilla will still allow my characters to work fine over on 1.0?

xcheatdeath

jointhemasters

99% of characters work on 1.0 plus screenpacks are easily converted, my characters work on 1.0, old ones are fine, and I can still code my usual way and they will be fine on 1.0. Glad to be back

xcheatdeath

Glad to be of help man! I look forward to your works!  :kungfugoi:

Oh one last question! If my aspect ratio is 640 X 480 (as that is the only ratio the converted MFJ screenpack will dispay properly in) Will HD characters and stages look good in game?

And/or is it possible to get an old screenpack to display properly in 1080p HD since normally it just zooms in on 720p and goes black on HD (guessing its not optimized to run in 720p and HD hence the problems).

xcheatdeath

HD stages no. Unless someone has made a patch for it to work on 640*480 it wont look right.
And characters, i THINK they look right unless they are specifically ment for 1280*720.

Like Parse's SSF2THD characters. 720p Compatible. If you feel like trying them out, go right ahead.
